InMode in Korea: How I Tighten Skin Without Surgery — A Gangnam Doctor's Honest First-Timer's Guide

If you've been researching InMode in Korea, you've probably seen it promised as a magic non-surgical facelift — and I want to gently pull that back to reality before you book anything. InMode is a genuinely good radiofrequency treatment, but only when it's matched to the right skin and the right expectations. This guide is the conversation I'd have with you across the desk on your first visit.
I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam. I've treated a lot of first-timers — many flying in from overseas — who arrive convinced InMode will erase ten years in one go. Here's what it really does, who it genuinely suits, and who I honestly send elsewhere.
What it actually is — in plain language
InMode is a platform of radiofrequency (RF) devices. The two I use most are Forma and Fx. Forma delivers gentle, controlled heat deep into the skin to stimulate collagen and contract existing fibers — that's the 'tightening' effect. Fx is a fractional RF handpiece that resurfaces the top layers to improve texture, pores, and mild scarring. Think of Forma as the 'firm and lift a little' tool and Fx as the 'refine the surface' tool.

Here's the honest part: InMode is not a facelift and it will not replace surgery. If your skin has significant sagging or heavy jowls, RF simply can't lift that much tissue. InMode works best on early-to-moderate laxity and skin quality. Sell it to yourself as 'better, tighter, smoother skin' — not 'a new lower face.'
Who it's really for
InMode lifting is one of my favorite treatments for the right candidate. You're probably a good fit if you recognize yourself here:
- You're in your late 20s to 50s with mild to moderate skin laxity — a slightly softening jawline or early crepiness.
- You want gradual, natural-looking tightening with zero to minimal downtime.
- You're bothered by skin texture, enlarged pores, or fine surface irregularities (Fx territory).
- You want to treat delicate areas like under the eyes, where stronger devices are too aggressive.
- You prefer a series of comfortable sessions over one intense treatment, and you can commit to maintenance.
And who I steer elsewhere: if you have heavy sagging, deep jowls, or excess skin, I'll be direct and tell you InMode won't satisfy you — you may need a stronger lifting device like Shurink or a surgical consult. I'd rather lose the booking than take your money for a result I know will disappoint you.
How it compares — an honest comparison
Patients always ask how InMode stacks up against the big names. Here's my plain-language guide — but remember, the right choice is decided in person, based on your actual skin.
In short: InMode is the gentle, buildable, low-downtime option — often paired with the others rather than competing with them.
Before and after: what's realistic
InMode results are gradual, not instant. After a Forma session your skin often looks a little tighter and glowier right away from the heat, but that's temporary. The real change — new collagen — builds quietly over 4 to 12 weeks, which is why I plan a series. By the end of a course, most patients see firmer, smoother, more refined skin. It's a 'people say you look well-rested' result, not a dramatic 'what did you do?' one. And yes, results vary genuinely from person to person.

What to expect — step by step
- 1
1. Free consultation
We assess your skin, laxity, and goals — and I tell you honestly if InMode is right, or if something else fits better.
- 2
2. Numbing & prep
We cleanse the skin and apply numbing cream if we're doing Fx. Forma usually needs no numbing.
- 3
3. The session
Forma feels like a warm, gliding massage; Fx delivers tiny controlled RF pulses. A full face typically takes 30–45 minutes.
- 4
4. Back to your day
Mild warmth or redness settles quickly. You can wear makeup and continue sightseeing the same day.
- 5
5. Results build over weeks
Collagen remodels over the following weeks. We space sessions 2–4 weeks apart for the best cumulative effect.

How we do it at Delphic — and why it matters
Every InMode session at Delphic is planned and supervised by a doctor — not handed off blindly to a machine schedule. We use the genuine InMode platform, and I set the parameters to your skin type, area, and comfort. For international patients especially, that doctor-led approach matters: I'd rather adjust your plan than push a fixed package that doesn't suit your face.

How much does it cost in Korea?
InMode pricing varies between clinics, so always ask for the price list in writing before you book. Here are our prices, the same ones our Korean patients pay:
| InMode 1 area (Fx or Forma) | ₩90,000$70 |
| InMode Full Face (Fx or Forma) | ₩150,000$110 |
Coming from overseas? Here's how we make it easy
We have on-site English and Chinese interpreters, so you'll understand every step and every price. InMode is one-day friendly with essentially no downtime, so it slots easily into a Seoul trip. We're a short walk from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 3, and you'll pay the same price as any local patient. Many visitors do a consultation and their first session in a single afternoon.
Start with a free 1:1 consultation
Before anything, come in for a free, no-pressure consultation. I'll look at your skin, tell you honestly whether InMode is the right choice, and if it isn't, I'll tell you that too. That's the whole point — the right treatment for your face, not the most expensive one.

Frequently asked questions
Does InMode hurt?
Most patients find it very tolerable. InMode Forma feels like a warm massage — genuinely relaxing for many people. InMode Fx (the fractional part) is a bit more intense and can feel like tiny hot pinpricks, so we apply numbing cream first. Nothing about it is what I'd call painful, and there's no lingering discomfort afterward.
How long do InMode results last?
For a course of sessions, most people enjoy their result for roughly 12–18 months. It's not permanent — your skin keeps aging — so many patients come back for a maintenance session once or twice a year to top up the collagen effect.
How does InMode compare to Thermage or Ultherapy?
Roughly: Thermage is a stronger single-session bulk-tightening treatment; HIFU devices such as Shurink and Ultherapy use ultrasound to reach the deeper SMAS layer for lifting — they are separate machines at separate prices, not the same treatment. InMode is gentler, done as a series, and shines for mild laxity, texture, and smaller areas like the jawline and under-eye. They're complementary, not rivals — I often plan them together.
Is there any downtime with InMode?
Forma has essentially no downtime — some warmth and mild redness that fades within an hour or two. Fx can leave slight redness and a sandpaper texture for a day or so. Both are one-day friendly, and most patients go straight back to work or sightseeing.
How many InMode sessions will I need?
It depends on your skin and goal. For visible tightening and texture improvement, I usually recommend 3–4 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart, then maintenance. A single session gives a nice temporary glow but won't build lasting collagen change.
