The injections people search for as korean fat loss injections are lipolytic ("fat-dissolving") injections that break down fat cells in one small, pinchable area, such as under the chin or along the jawline, so they reshape a contour and barely move the number on your scale. Forum threads tend to lump them in with weight-loss medication, and they describe day one far better than week three.
If you're flying in for them, the worry that matters is swelling: an injected area is commonly puffy and tender for several days, which is a problem if the appointment sits at the end of the trip. At Delphic Clinic, facial fat dissolving injections are on the contour-injection menu, a doctor performs the treatment directly, and it can happen the same day as your consultation.

In short:
- They act only where they're injected. For weight loss across the body, they're the wrong tool.
- They suit a small, soft pocket of fat on someone whose weight is fairly stable.
- Swelling usually peaks in the first days, so they belong early in a trip.
- At Delphic, a doctor injects, treatment can be same-day, and English interpretation is on staff.

Are these the same as weight-loss shots?
No. Weight-loss medications in the GLP-1 class act on appetite and work across the whole body over months. Lipolytic injections act only on the fat they touch, in the spot where they're placed. A thread asking whether Korean fat injections helped someone lose five kilos is mixing the two, and for the local kind the scale hardly changes.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons makes the same point about liposuction, the surgical version of local fat removal: it reshapes specific areas and is not considered an overall weight-loss method. Injections remove far less fat than surgery, so the same limit applies to them with more force.
What's actually in the syringe?
Usually deoxycholic acid, a bile acid that breaks down fat-cell membranes, sometimes combined with phosphatidylcholine. Formulations used in Korea vary, so asking which ingredients are in your injection is a fair question, and so is asking what they're approved for.
The U.S. FDA approved deoxycholic acid injection for fullness under the chin, and it later added information about adverse events to the product's labeling. That's worth knowing, because a forum thread rarely says which product a poster actually received.
A review in the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery looked at the literature on phosphatidylcholine–deoxycholate injection lipolysis alongside one team's 14 years of use in 1,269 patients of Indian and South East Asian origin.
Who are these injections a good fit for?
Someone close to a stable weight, with a small, soft pocket of fat they can pinch between two fingers: under the chin, along the jowl, the upper arm or the bra line. If the fullness is mainly loose skin, a square jaw from muscle or bone, or weight that's still going up or down, a lipolytic injection won't address it.
For mild fat with some laxity, a device is an option worth discussing. InMode, which the clinic lists as MFDS- and FDA-cleared, delivers RF energy through high-voltage pulses down to the SMAS layer to reduce unwanted fat while stimulating collagen; the clinic lists 20–30 minutes per treatment and 2–3 days of recovery. The clinic's one-day lifting packages also pair a double-chin fat dissolving injection with lifting devices in a single visit, which matters if you only have one appointment day.
If this is your first time, my first-timer's guide to fat dissolving injections in Korea covers the visit itself in more detail.

What the threads say about swelling, and what they leave out
Threads get day one right: burning or stinging during the injection, then swelling, tenderness and sometimes bruising. Under the chin, the area can look fuller before it looks smaller, and many people describe a firm, slightly numb feel for a while.
What they tend to leave out:
Risks and side effects to know
- The timeline. Swelling commonly peaks within the first few days and settles over the following week or two, while the contour change builds over several weeks. A photo posted on day four shows swelling, not the outcome.
- Sessions. Many people need more than one session, spaced weeks apart. For a traveler that usually means one session per trip, then a decision once the first has settled.
- They're uncommon, and they are the reason placement and depth matter.
The gap between online reviews and what people actually go through is covered in the side effects that fat dissolving reviews understate, and the middle weeks are laid out in what a face looks like from day one to week six after fat dissolving.

4.7 · 260 Google reviewsI received ONDA lifting and Juvelook Skin treatment at Delpic Clinic. Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.

How many days before your flight should you book them?
Book the injection in the first two days of a stay of five nights or more, so the most swollen days fall while you're still in Seoul. On a three-night trip, the injection only makes sense on day one, and you should expect to fly with some puffiness.
The clinic is open 10:30–21:00 on weekdays and 10:30–17:00 on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays. A Saturday-evening arrival therefore usually means a Monday appointment. If you also want a facial on the same trip, what happens step by step in a Seoul clinic facial helps you decide whether it goes before the injection day or after the swelling settles.
The CDC's advice for medical travelers is to keep copies of records of what was done and to plan follow-up care at home before you leave. Note the product name and the area treated, and keep that note with your passport.
Who shouldn't book them, and who doesn't need to
Skip or postpone the injections if:
- you're pregnant or breastfeeding;
- there's an infection, open skin or active acne in the area;
- you have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners, unless your own doctor has cleared it;
- you have trouble swallowing, or a lump in the neck that hasn't been checked, since fullness under the chin should first be confirmed as fat and not a gland or thyroid issue;
- you've had surgery in the area recently.
You don't need them if the double chin only shows in photos taken from below, or if the fat is part of weight you're actively losing; let the weight settle first. For a larger area, or a goal measured in kilograms, a weight-management doctor at home or a surgical consultation is the more fitting route.
Glow drips aren't fat loss either, though forums often lump them together; what glutathione injections can and can't show covers that separately. Results and recovery differ between people, and whether these injections suit you is decided at the in-person consultation.
Five questions to take into any consultation
- Which ingredients are in this injection, and what are they approved for?
- Is my fullness fat, or is it skin, muscle or gland?
- How many sessions do you expect, and how far apart?
- Which nearby areas will you avoid injecting, and why?
- If swelling gets worse after I fly home, who do I contact, and what records do I take to a local doctor?
The answers to those five questions for your own face come out of the 1:1 consultation, held in person at Delphic Clinic right by Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station, with English interpretation on staff. Send your two photos and your travel dates on WhatsApp, and book the slot that leaves the most days before your flight.
Frequently asked questions
Will fat dissolving injections change my weight?
Very little. The change shows in the outline of the chin or jaw, while the scale barely moves.
How many sessions does a double chin usually take?
Often more than one, spaced several weeks apart. The number is set after a doctor examines the area, and for travelers it often means one session per trip.
Do the results of fat dissolving injections last?
Fat cells destroyed by the injection are generally not replaced, so the reduction is lasting while your weight stays stable. The remaining fat cells can still grow if you gain weight, which can bring some fullness back.
Does a fat dissolving injection hurt?
A burning or stinging feeling during and shortly after the injection is commonly reported, and the area is usually tender for a few days. Ask at your consultation what is used to make it more comfortable.
Can I combine a fat dissolving injection with lifting on the same day?
It is possible: Delphic Clinic's one-day lifting packages pair a double-chin fat dissolving injection with lifting devices in a single visit. Whether combining suits your skin is decided at the consultation.
