The oligio rf device korea clinics use is a monopolar radiofrequency machine: it pushes heat into the deeper skin to tighten collagen and prompt new collagen, with no needles, no incisions and no laser beam. If you're flying in, the worry is usually the flight home, and Oligio's aftercare notes list only temporary slight swelling, bruising or redness that subsides within a few days, with same-day return to plans. English and Chinese interpreters are on site at Delphic, so the whole consult happens in your language. I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, Director · Lead Physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam (Korea University Medical Center; Member, Korean Society for Laser Dermatology & Hair).
“Is Oligio a laser, or just another name for Thermage?” is one of the questions visitors bring to the consult room, often after typing oligio rf device korea into a search bar the night before. Both halves of that question rest on a belief, and there are three more around this device. Here is where each one comes from and what the physics says.
In short
- Oligio is monopolar RF. It heats tissue through the skin's resistance to an electrical current, a different mechanism from a laser.
- It fits mild to moderate looseness on the cheeks, jawline and, with its eye tip, around the eyes. Skin that has already dropped past the jawline needs a different plan.
- A session runs under 20 minutes, a cooling mode is built in to reduce discomfort, and the listed recovery is same-day return.
- A pacemaker, cochlear implant or similar implanted device rules it out.
- At Delphic, Oligio sits alongside Thermage FLX, Ultherapy Prime, ONDA and Titanium, so the consult compares lifting devices for your face instead of starting from one machine.
If you'd like to know which of those groups your face sits in before you plan days around it, send two daylight photos on WhatsApp, one straight on and one in profile, along with the dates you'll be in Seoul.

“Oligio is a laser”: where the mix-up comes from
Oligio sends radiofrequency current through the skin, and the heat comes from the tissue resisting that current. A laser works with light, which heats whatever absorbs it: pigment, blood or water.
The search “oligio laser” makes sense, because clinic menus often group every energy device under one heading. The difference still matters to you in two ways. RF heating is less tied to skin colour than many lasers are, which is one reason RF is generally considered across a wider range of skin tones. And RF works on depth and volume of tissue, so it's a tightening tool; brown spots and pores are jobs for PicoSure toning or Potenza.
“Monopolar” means the current typically flows from a single active tip on your face to a return pad placed elsewhere on your body, which lets the heat reach deeper than designs where both electrodes sit side by side in the handpiece. It's also why the clinic asks you to remove all jewelry and electronic devices before treatment: metal in the path of the current can concentrate heat and cause a burn.
Is Oligio just another name for Thermage FLX?
They're two different machines that share a principle. Both are monopolar RF devices aimed at collagen in the deeper skin, so the mechanism above applies to each. They differ in maker, tips, cooling design and how shots are counted, so a shot number on one can't be read across to the other.
Delphic has both, which turns the choice into a conversation about your face, the area and your timing. For Oligio, the device notes I can point to are a cooling mode meant to reduce pain, a dedicated eye tip for delicate areas, and sessions under 20 minutes. If you're weighing the two, my piece on reading Thermage reviews by counting the shots explains what that number means on the Thermage FLX side. Titanium is a different device again, and which Titanium lifting reviews are worth trusting covers that one.
“More shots means more lift” gets the arithmetic wrong
A shot is one pulse of energy through the tip, and the count mostly describes how much area gets covered and how many passes go over it. Delphic offers Oligio for the face in 100 and 300 shots and for the eye area in 200 shots; the count follows the area.
Doubling the shots on a small area doesn't double the tightening. The collagen response is largely capped by your own tissue: its thickness, how much looseness there is, and how your skin heals. What a larger count on a full face does is give the doctor enough passes across the cheeks, jawline and under the chin without rushing. Thin eyelid skin is the reason a separate eye tip exists.

Does Oligio hurt, and how does the evening after look?
Most people describe each pulse as a short, deep warmth that peaks and fades within a second, and the cooling mode is there to take the edge off.
That evening the skin can look a little flushed and feel slightly puffy. The aftercare notes say to use moisturizer after treatment and sunscreen when you go out. With a listed recovery of same-day return, most people keep their evening plans in Seoul.
Risks and side effects to know
The firming builds slowly, because new collagen takes weeks to form. What you see in the mirror that night is mostly heat and mild swelling, so the last day of your trip is too early to judge.
Who should skip Oligio, and what can go wrong?
The clearest no is an implanted electronic device: the clinic's notes say treatment isn't advisable with a pacemaker or cochlear implant. The other limits are about what heat can and can't do.
- Implanted devices. Pacemaker, cochlear implant or similar. Mention any metal or electronic implant when you message.
- Active skin problems in the area. An infection, open wound or flaring rash is a reason to wait until it settles.
- Heavy sagging. When the jowl already hangs past the jawline or the neck skin folds, heat can firm the surface but can't lift that weight back. A surgical opinion is the honest next step.
- Fullness that is fat. If the heaviness under the chin is fat, RF is the wrong tool. Injections for that carry their own trade-offs, set out in the side effects that fat dissolving injection reviews understate.
When you don't need to come at all: if your skin is still firm and what bothers you is pigment, pores or texture, Oligio has nothing to tighten, and a different treatment fits.
On risk itself, the larger datasets come from older monopolar RF devices. A 2006 retrospective review of over 600 monopolar RF facial treatments in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology found that redness and swelling lasting under 24 hours were the most common effects. Six patients had swelling for up to a week.
That device isn't Oligio, so read the numbers as a picture of the category. Burns are the risk heat-based devices carry, which is why the jewelry rule and the doctor's settings matter. How your skin responds varies, and whether Oligio suits you is decided at the in-person consult.
Verified Google reviews
4.7 · 260 Google reviewsI received ONDA lifting and Juvelook Skin treatment at Delpic Clinic. Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.
If you're unsure which side of that line you're on, the most useful thing to send on WhatsApp is a profile photo with your chin level, plus a note of any implant or recent filler.

A five-minute self-check before you message
Answer these before you write, and keep them handy for the consult. Each one changes either whether Oligio fits or how the day is planned.
- In a mirror, tip your chin down: does the skin along your jaw drape forward, or does the jawline stay mostly crisp?
- Do you have a pacemaker, cochlear implant or any other implanted device?
- Are you pregnant, or could you be during the trip?
- Have you had filler, threads or another energy treatment on the face in recent months? Note the name and date if you know them.
- Which bothers you most: looseness, pores, pigment, or fullness under the chin?
- Which days are you in Seoul, and does any fall on a Sunday, when the clinic is closed?
If question 5 lands on two answers, Delphic's one-day packages are built to combine lifting, toning and skin boosters on a single day, which can suit a short trip.
The clinic is at 476 Gangnam-daero, Urban Hive Bldg 2F, directly connected to Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station (Line 9 and Sinbundang Line), and the 1:1 consultation runs with an English interpreter on site. To start, send your answers to the six questions and one profile photo on WhatsApp, along with your dates.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an Oligio session take in Seoul?
The treatment itself runs under 20 minutes according to Delphic's device notes. The consultation and preparation add time, so plan for a longer visit than the treatment alone. The clinic is open until 21:00 on weekdays, which leaves room after a day out in the city.
Can Oligio be used around the eyes?
Yes. Oligio has an eye tip for delicate areas, and Delphic lists an Eye Oligio option of 200 shots. Eyelid skin is thin, which is why it gets its own tip. Mention any eyelid surgery or eye condition before the consult.
Is Oligio suitable for darker skin tones?
RF heating doesn't rely on pigment the way many lasers do, so it is generally considered across a wider range of skin tones. Heat can still irritate any skin, and dark marks after heat injury are possible. Mention any history of dark marks after past treatments.
Can I combine Oligio with a skin booster on the same day?
Delphic's one-day packages are designed to fit lifting, toning and skin-booster treatments into a single day. Whether a combination makes sense for your skin is settled at the consultation, based on what bothers you most and how many days you have in Seoul.
When will I notice a change after Oligio?
Some people feel slight firmness soon after, partly from mild swelling. The collagen change builds over the following weeks as new collagen forms, so the final days of a trip are too early to judge.
