A Korean Brightening Morning: Yamini's PicoSure, Genesis and LDM Visit, Walked Through by Her Doctor
Yamini (@daebakyamini), who lives in Korea, spent a morning on a layered brightening routine: PicoSure toning, Genesis, a redness laser, LDM and a vitamin infusion. Her doctor explains why each step is there and who it isn't for.

“Can you make my skin brighter?” sounds like one request, but in my consultation room it usually hides three different problems: pigment, redness and a tired surface. I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director of Delphic Clinic in Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam. I trained at Korea University Medical Center, and I see international patients myself, with an interpreter beside us when it helps. Yamini lives in Korea and wanted the full, layered version of a brightening visit. This page explains why each layer exists, what it costs on our menu, and when I would tell someone to do less.

In her own words
I spent the morning at Delphic Clinic for their Ultimate Whitening & Brightening Package, and the whole experience felt so seamless—from the consultation with an English interpreter to every step of the treatment. The combination of PicoSure toning, Genesis laser, LDM care, vitamin infusion, and the modeling mask made this feel like a complete Korean skincare experience rather than just one treatment.
“Brighter” usually means three different things
When I look closely at skin that a patient calls dull, I'm separating pigment (brown), redness (vessels and irritation) and surface quality (dryness, uneven texture). Each responds to a different tool. A routine that only treats one of them often leaves the person feeling that nothing changed.
That's the logic behind a layered visit like Yamini's. It isn't more treatments for the sake of it; each step answers one of those three questions. I've written about what a Korean skin whitening treatment can honestly change, which is worth reading before you book anything with “whitening” in the name.
What each step in her routine is doing
- 1
PicoSure toning — the brown
A 755nm picosecond laser that targets melanin in very short pulses, so the surrounding tissue is spared. This is the step aimed at uneven pigment.
- 2
Genesis and redness modes — the red
GV laser uses 532nm and 1064nm wavelengths with four modes. Genesis warms the skin gently for tone and texture; the vascular mode is chosen when redness is part of the picture.
- 3
LDM — the calm-down
High-density ultrasound used after lasers to soothe and support recovery. On sensitive skin, this is the step I would least want to skip.
- 4
Vitamin infusion and modeling mask — the finish
Ionto infusion pushes a vitamin ampoule into freshly treated skin, and the rubber modeling mask seals and cools it.
Why she mentioned the interpreter
Yamini wrote that the visit felt seamless from the consultation onward, with an English interpreter in the room. That matters more than it sounds. Laser plans depend on details — recent sun exposure, medications, past irritation — and patients only share those when they can say them comfortably.
English and Chinese interpreters are on site at Delphic, and I do the consultation and the treatment myself. If you're new to Korean clinics, my guide for first-time foreign patients explains how a visit runs from door to door.
Her 299,000 KRW package vs. the single-item menu
Yamini listed her package at 299,000 KRW, and that is what she reported paying. Packages change, so I'd rather show you the stable single-item first-visit prices for the core three steps, which you can use to compare.
- Pico Sure Toning + 1 Session of Mask (First-visit trial)₩40,000≈ $30
- session 1 session of GV Laser (one mode) (First-visit trial)₩89,000≈ $60
- LDM 6min (Choose 1 mode: Hydration/Acne/Redness) (First-visit trial)₩39,000≈ $30
VAT excluded · identical for Korean and international patients · regular prices: PicoSure toning + pack ₩50,000, GV laser ₩120,000. Packages and their prices are confirmed at the free consultation.
The vitamin infusion is listed separately on our menu (ionto vitamin infusion 5 minutes, ₩50,000). For more on how toning is priced across sessions, see my PicoSure cost breakdown.
What one session can and can't do
- Straight after: many people notice a fresher, calmer surface, partly from the LDM and mask.
- Pigment: toning works gradually. One session is a start, and many patients plan a series.
- Redness: depends on its cause. Some redness responds well to light; some needs a different approach.
- Sun protection afterwards does as much for the result as the laser itself.
If you want to book a similar morning
- 1
Send a photo first
Message us on WhatsApp with a bare-skin photo in daylight. I'll tell you which of the three problems is leading, and whether you need all the steps.
- 2
Same-day treatment
Consultation and treatment can happen in one visit if the plan is clear.
- 3
Location
A short walk from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 3, Gangnam.
- 4
After
Gentle cleansing, moisturiser and daily sunscreen for the following days.
Is this for you?
Who this combination genuinely suits
Signs it may be time
- Makeup no longer evens out your tone the way it used to
- You notice both brown spots and redness in daylight photos
- Your skin feels tired even when you sleep well
- You want a clinic visit that feels like a full routine, not a single zap
A good fit if
- Your skin looks dull, with a mix of uneven pigment and some redness
- You'd like a gentle, no-downtime routine rather than a single strong laser
- You're in Seoul, or live here, and want the experience explained in English
- You're happy to treat brightening as a series, not a one-off
Not the right first step if: you have an active rash, a fresh sunburn or a recent tan, you're using medication that makes skin light-sensitive, or your main concern is deep scarring or melasma that needs a slower plan. I'll recommend a different start in those cases.

“If this sounds like your skin, send me a daylight photo before your appointment. I'll tell you honestly whether you need the full routine or just one or two steps.”
Questions patients ask me about this
How much is PicoSure toning in Korea?
At Delphic Clinic, PicoSure toning with a pack is ₩40,000 at the first-visit price and ₩50,000 regularly, VAT excluded. Korean and international patients pay the same price.
Can you do PicoSure and Genesis laser on the same day?
Yes, they are often combined because they address different things: PicoSure targets pigment while GV Genesis gently warms the skin for tone and texture. The doctor checks your skin first and adjusts the settings.
What is in a Korean whitening and brightening package?
It usually layers a pigment laser, a tone or redness laser, a soothing step like LDM, and a finishing infusion or mask. The exact package and price are confirmed at the consultation, and single items can be booked separately.
Is there downtime after PicoSure toning and Genesis?
Most people return to normal activities the same day. Mild warmth or pinkness can appear for a short while, and daily sunscreen is important for the following days.
Does a whitening laser change my natural skin colour?
No. These treatments aim at uneven pigment, redness and dullness so your tone looks clearer and more even; they don't change your natural skin colour.
