Genesis Laser in Seoul: Where It Sits in Lia's Three-Laser Brightening Plan, and When It Is Enough on Its Own
Lia (@liaslogs) tried PicoSure, Genesis and a pigmentation & redness laser in one brightening visit. Here I zoom in on the Genesis part: what it is, when I use it alone, and how often it is repeated.

“Is Genesis the gentle one?” is something visitors ask me almost every week, usually after seeing it listed next to PicoSure on a package. I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director of Delphic Clinic in Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam. I trained at Korea University Medical Center, and I consult and treat our international patients myself. Lia's caption names three lasers in one visit, and I have already walked through that visit as a whole. This page answers a narrower question: what Genesis laser in Seoul actually does, how it differs from the other two, how often it is repeated, and who should hold off.

In her own words
Finally trying to do something about my redness and uneven skin. 3 lasers sounded terrifying but it was honestly not as bad as I expected
What is Genesis laser at a Seoul clinic like ours?
Genesis laser in Seoul is often sold as a standalone name, but at our clinic it is one of four modes on the GV laser, a German-engineered device with 532nm and 1064nm wavelengths. The other three modes target pigment, red acne marks and visible vessels.
I think of Genesis as the even-handed mode. Instead of chasing a single spot, it gently warms the whole face, which is why I reach for it when redness is spread out and the skin looks a little flushed or dull rather than spotty.
Lia's caption lists it alongside PicoSure and a pigmentation & redness laser. I described how those three passes fit together in my notes on Lia's full brightening visit, so here I stay with the Genesis part.
Genesis vs PicoSure vs pigment mode: which one does what?
- 1
Genesis mode — diffuse redness and overall tone
Even, gentle heating across the face. Useful for a flushed look and dull, uneven tone without obvious dark spots.
- 2
GV pigment or vascular mode — specific targets
Aimed at defined brown marks or small visible vessels, so it works more locally than Genesis.
- 3
PicoSure toning — scattered brown pigment
A 755nm picosecond laser that targets melanin in very short pulses while sparing surrounding tissue.
Redness and pigment can look alike in photos, which is why I check under good light before choosing. I've explained which kinds of redness a laser can calm, and which it cannot, in a separate guide.
When I'd use Genesis on its own
- Redness is mild and spread out, with few distinct brown spots.
- You want a low-key first laser before committing to a bigger plan.
- Your skin has reacted to stronger treatments before and needs a gentler start.
- You mainly want a brighter, calmer look before an event.
When brown spots, red acne marks and flushing all show up together, as Lia described, a combined plan usually makes more sense than repeating Genesis alone. For red marks left by breakouts in particular, I often switch to the acne red mark mode, which I covered in my guide to calming red acne marks with GV laser.
How many Genesis laser sessions, and how far apart?
GV laser sessions are usually spaced 2–4 weeks apart. One session can calm the look of the skin for a while, but diffuse redness tends to respond gradually, so I judge progress across a series rather than on day one.
I don't set a fixed number before I've seen how your skin responds to the first session. If you only visit Seoul once, I'd treat the first session as a test of how your skin tolerates it, not as the full result.
Genesis laser cost in Seoul
Lia's caption doesn't give a price, so below are example menu prices. Korean and international patients pay the same.
- session 1 session of GV Laser (one mode) (First-visit trial)₩89,000≈ $60
- GV Laser, 1 Session₩120,000≈ $90
- Pico Sure Toning + 1 Session of Mask (First-visit trial)₩40,000≈ $30
VAT excluded · the same price for Korean and international patients · example menu prices, not what Lia paid · the first-visit GV option covers one mode (Genesis, pigment, acne red marks or vascular) · extra modes and your final plan are confirmed at the free consultation.
Adding a second GV mode or PicoSure changes the total. Everything is confirmed at the free consultation before treatment.

- Your skin is actively inflamed, broken or peeling.
- You've just started retinol, a peel or another strong active and your skin is irritated.
- You're pregnant or breastfeeding — tell me at the consultation.

Is this for you?
Who this combination genuinely suits
Signs it may be time
- Your cheeks flush easily and stay pink
- Makeup is mostly covering redness rather than spots
- You're unsure whether your marks are red or brown
- A stronger laser left your skin irritated before
A good fit if
- Your redness is spread out rather than in sharp spots
- Your skin looks flushed or dull and you want an even, calmer tone
- You want a gentle laser to start with
- You can return every few weeks, or accept one session as a starting point
Not the right first step if: you have a fresh sunburn or deep tan, broken or actively inflamed skin, you're pregnant or breastfeeding, or what you want to change is mainly sharp brown spots that a pigment-focused laser handles more directly.

“If you're not sure whether Genesis is enough, send me a daylight photo before your trip. I'd rather tell you honestly that one mode will do than sell you three.”
Questions patients ask me about this
What does Genesis laser do?
At Delphic Clinic, Genesis is one of four modes on the GV laser. It gently and evenly warms the skin, which I use for diffuse redness and dull, uneven tone rather than for specific dark spots.
Is Genesis laser the same as pico toning?
No. PicoSure toning is a picosecond laser aimed at brown pigment, while Genesis works more broadly on redness and overall tone. They are sometimes combined in one visit, as in Lia's post.
How many Genesis laser sessions do I need?
GV laser sessions are usually spaced 2–4 weeks apart, and diffuse redness tends to improve gradually over a series. I suggest a number only after seeing how your skin responds to the first session.
How much is Genesis laser in Seoul?
On our menu, one GV laser session in one mode such as Genesis is ₩89,000 at the first-visit price and ₩120,000 regular, VAT excluded. International patients pay the same as Korean patients.
Is there downtime after Genesis laser?
Most people return to normal activities the same day. Temporary warmth or redness can occur and usually eases within a few days; makeup and cleansing are fine from the same day.
