Redness and Sunspots in Korea: Michael's Custom Pico + GV Laser Plan, From the Doctor Who Built It
Michael (@mikejiang8) came in with two concerns at once — redness and sunspots — and left with a customised Pico, GV laser and LDM plan. His doctor explains how the plan was put together.

Men tend to arrive with a short sentence and a long history. “Some redness, some spots” often means years of outdoor sport, shaving irritation and no sunscreen. I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director of Delphic Clinic near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam; I trained at Korea University Medical Center and I consult and treat international patients myself. Michael's request for redness and sunspots together is one I hear from male patients most weeks. Below is how I separate the two, why his plan used three different devices, what it costs, and who shouldn't copy it.

In her own words
Come with me as I visit Delphic Clinic. I got a customized treatment plan for redness and sunspots, including Pico lasers, GV lasers, and LDM mask.
Brown and red are two separate targets
Sunspots are pigment: melanin collected in one place. Redness is usually about blood vessels near the surface, or skin that stays irritated. A laser is tuned to what it hits, so one setting rarely handles both well.
This is the reason “customised” in Michael's caption isn't marketing. The plan literally had one tool per colour, and a third to settle the skin afterwards. If you're unsure what kind of redness you have, my piece on which redness a laser can calm, and which it cannot, is a good place to start.
How his three-part plan fits together
- 1
Pico for the spots
PicoSure is a 755nm picosecond laser that breaks up melanin in ultra-short pulses. It's my starting tool for scattered sun pigment, with very little downtime.
- 2
GV laser for the redness
GV laser combines 532nm and 1064nm wavelengths and has four modes, including one for vessels. I choose the mode after looking at where and how the redness shows.
- 3
LDM to finish
High-density ultrasound that helps calm skin after two lasers. On reactive skin, this step makes the plan easier to tolerate.
What's different about treating men's skin
Men's skin is often thicker and oilier, and daily shaving adds friction in exactly the areas where redness collects. I ask about razor habits and aftershave, because a laser can't outrun daily irritation.
Male patients also tend to skip sunscreen afterwards. With pigment treatment, that's the habit that decides whether the spots stay lighter. A simple SPF you'll actually wear is part of the plan, not an extra.
Cost of a plan like Michael's
Our prices are published and identical for every nationality. Michael's exact settings weren't shared, so below is the typical first-visit version of the two lasers in his plan.
- Pico Sure Toning + 1 Session of Mask (First-visit trial)₩40,000≈ $30
- session 1 session of GV Laser (one mode) (First-visit trial)₩89,000≈ $60
VAT excluded · identical for Korean and international patients · regular prices: PicoSure toning + pack ₩50,000, GV laser ₩120,000. This is the typical first-visit version; Michael's exact settings aren't public. Final plan at the free consultation.
LDM 6 minutes is ₩39,000 at the first-visit price if added. Spots that need a stronger approach are priced differently — I explain how in my guide to pigmentation cost by spot type.
How fast to expect change
- Right after: skin can look a little pink, and some spots may darken slightly before fading.
- The next couple of weeks: pigment tends to lighten gradually as the skin renews.
- Redness responds over several sessions in many patients, depending on its cause.
- Lasting improvement depends on sun habits, shaving irritation and how many sessions you plan.

Is this for you?
Who this combination genuinely suits
Signs it may be time
- Your cheeks or nose look red in photos even when you're not hot
- Sunspots have appeared after years of outdoor sport or travel
- Shaving leaves your skin blotchy
- You've never had a professional skin assessment
A good fit if
- You have both brown sunspots and facial redness
- You want a no-downtime plan you can fit into a trip
- You're a man who's never had a skin treatment and wants it explained plainly
- You're willing to wear sunscreen afterwards
Not the right first step if: you have a fresh tan or sunburn, an active skin infection, take light-sensitising medication, or your redness comes from a condition that needs medical treatment first. I'll tell you if that's the case at the consultation.

“Send me daylight photos before your trip and I'll tell you honestly whether a Pico and GV plan suits your skin, or whether you should start with something else.”
Questions patients ask me about this
What laser is used for redness in Korea?
At Delphic Clinic, GV laser is often used for redness because its 532nm and 1064nm wavelengths and vascular mode target vessels near the surface. The doctor first checks what is causing the redness.
How much is GV laser in Korea?
GV laser for one session in one mode is ₩89,000 at the first-visit price and ₩120,000 regularly, VAT excluded. The price is the same for Korean and international patients.
Can sunspots and redness be treated at the same visit?
Often yes. A pico laser targets the pigment and GV laser targets the redness, and LDM can calm the skin afterwards. The doctor decides the order and settings after examining you.
Is pico laser suitable for men?
Yes. Many male patients have it for sunspots and uneven tone. Thicker, oilier skin and shaving habits are taken into account when setting the plan.
Is there downtime after pico and GV laser?
Most people return to normal activities the same day. Mild pinkness can appear, and some spots may darken slightly before fading.
