The V-line “Idol Combo” in Seoul: Berita Korea's Three-Step Review, and the Fine Print From the Doctor

Every few days someone shows me a photo of a K-pop star and asks for “that V-line”. I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director of Delphic Clinic near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam. I trained at Korea University Medical Center, and I consult and treat international patients myself. Berita Korea's post lays out the three treatments in a neat list, which makes it a useful case to explain properly: what each step contributes to a V-line, why I'd adjust the “zero downtime” line slightly, what the combination costs, and who I wouldn't give it to.

Three steps, three different jobs

Berita Korea's list is accurate, and it's worth seeing why each item is there. A V-line is shaped by three things a clinic can influence: the fat along the jaw and neck, the pocket under the chin, and how firm the skin is over both.

   ONDA — jawline and neck fat

   Microwaves heat the deeper fat layer while the surface stays cool, so I use it across the broader jaw and neck area where fat lingers despite dieting.

   Fat-dissolving injection — the double chin

   A targeted injection placed in the fat under the chin. It is the most direct tool for that one compact pocket.

3. 3

   Titanium — skin firmness

   Three laser wavelengths warm the dermis to improve firmness across the face, so the skin follows the new contour rather than looking loose.

If the double chin is your main concern, it's worth reading the week-by-week timeline that before-and-after photos don't show.

The fine print on “visible immediately, zero downtime”

Many patients do see a tighter look straight after treatment, and you can return to your day — so the caption isn't wrong. But some of that early change is swelling and skin contraction, and the fat reduction itself becomes clearer gradually, over weeks to 2–3 months.

Injections also bring their own short recovery. The area under the chin can be tender or a little swollen for a few days, and an injection bruise is possible. I wrote frankly about the side effects reviews tend to understate.

What I tell patients who bring a celebrity photo

I'm happy to look at the photo — it tells me the direction you like. But a V-line also depends on bone structure, and no device or injection changes bone. If your jaw is wide because of the bone or a strong chewing muscle, this combination will not reproduce the picture.

What it can do is reduce fat that dieting hasn't touched and firm the skin over it. For the right face, that is a meaningful change. For the wrong face, I'll say so at the consultation.

How much the idol combo costs

The first few days after

• Lukewarm water to wash for about three days after Titanium.
• Sunscreen daily; avoid long direct sun on the treated skin.
• Skip saunas, alcohol and hard exercise for a day or two.
• Drink plenty of water and keep the skin moisturised.
• Message us if swelling or tenderness feels unusual — even after you've flown home.
