“Weight-Loss Injection” in Korea? Miicha's Consultation, and Why I Call It Body Contouring Instead

“Weight-loss injection” is the phrase I correct most gently and most often in my consultation room. I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director of Delphic Clinic in Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam. I trained at Korea University Medical Center, and I consult and treat international patients myself. Miicha (@miicha_korea) walked her followers through her visit, from consultation to choosing the treatment to the injection itself. Her caption doesn't name what she had, so I won't. What I want to make clear is what our body treatments do, what they don't, and who should look elsewhere first.

Why I don't use the words “weight loss”

Miicha's caption calls it a weight-loss injection, which is how many people search for it. Her post doesn't say which treatment she chose, so this isn't a review of her session.

Here's the honest distinction. Our body treatments act on fat in one chosen area to change its shape. They are not a way to lower your overall body weight, and the scale may barely move. If your goal is a lower number, that's a different medical conversation about diet, activity and health.

What local fat treatments actually do

   Body fat-dissolving injection

   A combination of medications injected into the fat layer of a chosen area to break down fat and support lymphatic circulation. About 10 minutes, same-day recovery.

   ONDA body

   Microwave energy that warms the deeper fat layer while the surface stays cool. I consider it for a larger area or when skin firmness matters too.

3. 3

   Body InMode

   Radiofrequency with high-voltage pulses that targets unwanted fat and supports collagen and elastin. 20–30 minutes; avoid alcohol and smoking for a week afterwards.

What the consultation decides

Miicha showed the consultation as its own step, and I'm glad she did. That's where I check whether the area is pinchable fat that a local treatment can reach, or something else such as loose skin or fat deeper inside the abdomen, which these treatments don't target.

• Which area, and how much fat is actually there.
• Whether the skin over it is firm or loose, which changes the choice between injection and a device.
• Your health history and any medication you take.
• How long you're in Korea, since injections are usually a short course.

These are menu prices for this concern, not what Miicha paid; her post doesn't say. International patients pay exactly what Korean patients pay.

Keeping the shape you've worked for

Treated areas tend to hold their new shape more reliably when your weight stays stable. Changes show gradually over weeks, so photos taken in the same light are more reliable than daily mirror checks.
