Most facial procedures in korea that visitors book at a skin clinic are non-surgical: device lifting, laser toning, skin boosters, filler and clinic facials, often done on the same day as the consultation. At Delphic, a doctor performs the treatment, and treatment on the day of your consult is possible. The worry I hear most from visitors in their 40s and 50s is the flight home: will my face still be red, swollen or bruised at the gate two days later? I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, Director and Lead Physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam, trained at Korea University Medical Center and a member of the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Surgery & Laser Medicine.
"Which of these facial procedures in Korea is worth building a trip around?" comes up in my consult room almost every week, often from someone who has also been reading about facial contouring surgery, or from a son or daughter booking for a parent. The answer starts with what your face is actually doing, and you can begin working that out before you land.
The short version
- Most facial procedures at a skin clinic finish in one visit. Jaw or cheekbone contouring is bone surgery at a different kind of hospital.
- The choice follows the problem: sagging, lost volume, or surface (spots, pores, texture).
- Most device lifting and toning let you go out the same day. Filler can bruise, so it needs a few days of margin before a flight.
- At Delphic: consults with English or Chinese interpretation, treatment performed by a doctor, and a clinic directly connected to Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station.
If you have a front and a side photo of your face taken in daylight, send them on WhatsApp with your travel dates.

What counts as a facial procedure at a Korean skin clinic?
Four families: device lifting, laser and microneedling, injectables, and clinic facials. Each works at a different depth of the skin, so the first job in a consultation is finding the layer where your concern sits.
The devices differ mainly in the energy they use. Ultrasound focuses heat at a deeper point, radiofrequency heats the dermis more broadly, and ONDA uses microwave energy that generates deep heat through the micro-vibration of water particles in the skin. Ulthera, Thermage FLX, ONDA and Titanium are FDA-cleared lifting devices.
Filler works differently. It is hyaluronic acid placed under a sunken area to replace volume, and the body absorbs it over time. The American Academy of Dermatology notes that results from most fillers are temporary, which also means a plan can be adjusted later.
The "Korean glass skin facial" you see online usually sits in the last two rows: a clinic facial, toning and a booster combined. If you're weighing a clinic facial against a spa one, I've written about what a clinic facial does that a spa facial doesn't.
Your visit, station by station
A first visit has five stops: getting to the clinic, an interpreted consult, the doctor's exam, the treatment, and walking out. Only the treatment itself changes much from one procedure to another.

Arriving at Sinnonhyeon
Delphic is at 476 Gangnam-daero, Urban Hive Bldg 2F, directly connected to Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station (Line 9 and the Sinbundang Line), with airport-bus access into downtown Gangnam. Hours are Mon–Fri 10:30–21:00 and Sat 10:30–17:00, closed on Sundays.
The interpreted consult
Consultations are 1:1, with English or Chinese interpretation. If you are bringing a parent, write their questions down beforehand: what they want changed, what they'd rather not change, and any medicines they take. Parents often ask fewer questions in a clinic than they meant to.
The exam
This is where the procedure family gets chosen. The next section covers what I look at, because it's the part you can partly do yourself at home.
The treatment
A doctor performs the treatment, and same-day treatment after the consult is possible. Duration for each procedure is advised at the consultation.
Walking out
Our one-day packages are designed so lifting, toning and a skin booster finish in a single day, which suits a short trip.
How do you tell sagging from lost volume?
Compare your face sitting up and lying back. What softens when you lie down is mostly loose tissue moving with gravity, which points toward lifting. What still looks hollow lying down is lost volume, which points toward filler or a collagen-stimulating booster.
Two more checks shape the plan. Gently pinch the skin of your cheek: if it's thin, finely creased and slow to settle back, the skin itself needs work, and boosters or Potenza tend to come before more volume. Then look at the surface in daylight. Brown spots, uneven tone and enlarged pores are a laser question, and they don't change when you lie down.
After 45, most faces show all three in different amounts. The real planning question is order: which layer, treated first, changes how the rest looks. When filler is the right tool, I plan it around proportion, which I explain in how I plan filler for facial balancing.
What are the side effects and risks, and what margin do you need before your flight?
Most effects are short-lived: redness, swelling, tenderness and, after injections, bruising. Filler also carries a rare but serious risk. The U.S. FDA warns that filler accidentally injected into a blood vessel can block blood flow, which may cause skin damage and, rarely, vision problems.
Which treatment suits your skin, and on which settings, is decided at the in-person exam. Other effects to know about:
- Ultrasound and RF lifting: the jawline can feel tender for a few days.
- Heat-based lasers on medium to darker skin: temporary darkening after inflammation can happen, which is why settings are chosen with skin tone in mind.
- Microneedling and Fraxel: redness and a sandpaper feel usually last several days.
For trip planning, this translates into a simple order. Device lifting and toning can usually sit anywhere in the trip, and most people go out that evening. Microneedling and Fraxel belong near the start. Filler and boosters can leave small bruises or bumps at injection points that take a week or more to fade for some people, so do them early and leave several days before the flight or any event with photos.
Before you fly home, ask any clinic for a note of what was done: the product or device, the areas and the date. The CDC's guidance on medical tourism recommends carrying copies of your records and arranging follow-up care at home before you travel.
Verified Google reviews
4.7 · 260 Google reviewsI received ONDA lifting and Juvelook Skin treatment at Delpic Clinic. Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.

Facial contouring surgery is a separate trip
Facial contouring surgery, such as jaw or cheekbone reduction, reshapes bone under general anesthesia at a plastic surgery hospital, with a much longer stay and recovery. Delphic doesn't perform it. Our facial procedures work on skin, fat and soft tissue.
The overlap is the lower face. When a wide jawline is soft tissue, fat dissolving injections, InMode or ONDA can slim it.
Who this doesn't suit, and when you don't need the trip
A non-surgical facial procedure is the wrong plan, or the wrong timing, in a few clear situations:
- You want a change in bone shape. That's contouring surgery, covered above.
- An active acne flare, infection or cold sore in the treatment area. Treatment is postponed until it settles.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Elective injections and most energy treatments are usually postponed.
- You only want a relaxing facial. A good spa near home can give you that, and you don't need a flight for it.
- A two-day trip with filler before an important event. The bruising margin is too thin; move the filler or the event.
What should you send before booking a flight?
A short message with the right details tells the doctor more than a long one. Use this as your checklist:
- Two photos, front and side, in daylight and without makeup.
- Your main concern in one sentence: sagging, a hollow, spots, or pores.
- Anything you've had before (filler, lifting, laser) and roughly when.
- Medicines and conditions, especially blood thinners, pregnancy or recent isotretinoin.
- Your arrival and departure dates.
- If it's for a parent: whether they'd prefer English or Chinese interpretation.
And three questions worth asking any clinic, including ours: who performs the treatment, which exact device or product will be used, and what you should do if something comes up after you're home.
Delphic is directly connected to Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station, consultations are 1:1 with English or Chinese interpretation, and weekday hours run until 21:00.
Frequently asked questions
How many days should I stay in Seoul for a facial procedure?
Device lifting and toning fit a short trip for most people, since many go out the same evening. Filler and skin boosters need more room, because small bruises can take a week or more to fade for some people. If you plan injectables, do them at the start of your stay.
Can I have facial procedures in Korea in English?
At Delphic, consultations are 1:1 with English or Chinese interpretation. Bring your questions written down, especially if you are booking for a parent, so nothing gets skipped in the room.
Can I combine several facial treatments in one day?
Often, yes. Delphic's one-day packages are designed so lifting, toning and a skin booster finish in a single day. Which combination makes sense depends on your skin and the doctor's exam on the day.
What is a Korean glass skin facial at a clinic?
It's an informal name for treatments aimed at hydrated, even, light-reflecting skin. At a clinic it usually combines a facial such as Aqua Peel or LDM with toning and a skin booster. The facial shows on the day, while boosters build up over the following weeks.
Can I go sightseeing right after a lifting or laser session?
After most device lifting and toning, yes, with sunscreen and a hat. After microneedling or Fraxel, the skin is red and sensitive for several days, so avoid strong sun, saunas and heavy makeup until it settles.

The "Just a Bigger Syringe" Myth About Korea Body Filler, and the Risks Behind It
Most korea body filler means injecting gel into breasts, buttocks or hips, a use the U.S. FDA recommends against. Small-volume facial filler is a different question, and the bigger risk for travelers is a complication that appears after the flight home.

How Long Should You Stay in Seoul for Korean Dermal Fillers? Book the Injection Early, Not on Your Last Day
Korean dermal fillers can be injected on the same day as your consultation, so the trip is decided by the days after it: book the injection early in your stay and keep two to three nights in Seoul before flying home.

A korean filler stick is a cosmetic balm: it can soften dry fine lines while it's on your skin, but it can't add volume. Injected hyaluronic acid filler can, and it brings uncommon but serious risks such as vascular occlusion.
