I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director and lead physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam, one minute from Sinnonhyeon Station. I trained at Korea University Medical Center and I am a member of the Korean Filler Society and the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Surgery & Laser Medicine, among others. Alongside lifting, laser and anti-ageing care, I spend a good part of each week on what patients search as “facial balancing Korea”: planning filler for faces that want to look balanced rather than changed.
Patients who search facial balancing Korea usually arrive with one feature in mind, often the chin or the cheeks. Within a few minutes in the chair, we are almost always talking about the whole face instead. This page explains how I think about that, so you know what to expect before you sit down.
Why balancing starts with the side profile and the facial thirds
From the front, many faces look fine. From the side, a slightly short chin can make the nose look larger and the lips more forward. Adding a little projection to the chin often changes how the whole lower face reads.
I also compare the upper, middle and lower thirds of the face. When one third looks hollow or short next to the others, a small amount in the right place restores the balance more than a larger amount anywhere else.
Chin, cheeks, temples, lips: what each area shifts
Temples are the area most people forget, yet hollow temples can make the whole face look narrower and older. I explain that area in detail in my guide to temple filler in Korea.
Your proportion self-check, with three photos
Take these photos in daylight with your hair tied back and a relaxed face, then send them with your consultation request.
- 1
Front photo
Look straight ahead. Notice whether one third of your face looks shorter, hollower or wider than the others.
- 2
Side profile
Turn fully to the side. Check where your chin sits relative to your lips and nose.
- 3
Three-quarter view
Turn halfway. This shows cheek support and temple hollowness better than any other angle.

How little product a balancing plan usually needs
Korean balancing is about restraint: less product, placed precisely. I would rather you leave looking like yourself on a good day and come back for a small top-up than leave looking filled. The overall Korean approach to areas and products is in my guide to which areas, which products and how much filler.
Product choice follows the area. At Delphic I choose between Juvederm, Rejuviel and Belotero, with Belotero kept for fine wrinkles and the under-eye area.
A balanced face is one where nobody can tell which part was treated.— Dr. Hyunji Kim, Delphic Clinic
When I say no to facial balancing
- The main issue is sagging, where filler would add weight rather than lift
- The request is to match a photo of someone else's face
- There is active infection, a cold sore or inflammation in the area
- Recent filler elsewhere has not settled yet, and we cannot see what is already there
- The plan would need large amounts in one visit before a short flight home
Skill matters more than the brand in this kind of work. If you are comparing injectors, my notes on choosing an injector from Korea filler reviews may help you filter.
Undoing a plan: the dissolving safety net
Because these are hyaluronic acid fillers, a hyaluronidase injection can dissolve them if a result is uneven or not what you wanted. We offer it per area. Knowing that option exists is part of why I can keep first plans small and adjust later.
Fitting a balancing plan into a Seoul trip
Book the consultation early in your stay, so there are a few days to review the result before you fly. Mild swelling or small bruises can appear, so leave space before important photos. Same-day treatment is possible once we agree on the plan.

4.7 · 260 Google reviewsI received ONDA lifting and Juvelook Skin treatment at Delpic Clinic. Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.
If you are not sure whether your face needs balancing or just one small change, bring your three photos to a free one-to-one consultation. I will tell you which areas I would treat, which I would leave alone, and whether filler is the right tool at all. Frequently asked questions
What is facial balancing in Korea?
It is filler planned for the proportions of the whole face rather than one feature at a time. In Korea it usually means small amounts placed in a few areas, such as the chin, cheeks or temples, so the face looks more in harmony without looking filled.
Which areas are used in a facial balancing plan?
At Delphic the common areas are the chin tip, front and side cheeks, front cheekbones, temples, nasolabial and marionette areas, and lips. Most plans use only two or three of them.
Can facial balancing filler be reversed?
Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with a hyaluronidase injection. At Delphic that is ₩100,000 per area, and I prefer to start with less so that dissolving is rarely needed.
How much does facial balancing cost in Korea?
It depends on how many syringes and which product. At Delphic, Juvederm is ₩350,000 per 1cc and Rejuviel is ₩270,000 per 1cc, with first-visit prices listed on the menu. International patients pay the same price as Korean patients.
Who is not a good candidate for facial balancing?
I decline when the concern is mainly sagging that filler would only weigh down, when someone wants to match a photo of another face, or when there is active infection or inflammation in the area.
