Korean Filler: Which Areas, Which Products, and How Much Is Enough

Patients who ask about Korean filler usually have one of two worries. Either they have seen overfilled faces and are afraid of looking 'done', or they have heard Korean clinics are subtle and want to know what that actually means. This page answers both: where filler helps, which products I choose, and how I decide how much is enough.

The Korean approach: less product, placed precisely

The style people associate with Korean filler is not about a particular brand. It is a philosophy: place small amounts where the face has lost support, and stop before anyone would guess. A face treated this way looks rested, not reshaped.

Hyaluronic acid, the material in the fillers I use, is similar to a substance the body already contains and is gradually absorbed over time. The effect is visible straight away, and most people return to their day the same afternoon.

Juvederm, Rejuviel, Belotero: how I choose between them

Juvederm is a widely used hyaluronic acid filler range I use for contour and volume work. Rejuviel is made by the company behind Rejuran, and I use it for areas such as the cheeks, folds, chin, marionette lines and lips. Belotero I reserve for fine wrinkles and the delicate under-eye area.

I choose the product after I have decided the area and the effect, never the other way round. If a clinic starts the conversation with a brand name, ask what it is planning to do with it.

Faces where filler is the wrong tool

Filler is excellent at restoring lost volume and poor at almost everything else. These are the situations where I recommend something different or nothing at all.

• Sagging skin along the jaw: filler adds weight, not lift. Lifting is the first step.
• A face that already carries a lot of filler: we assess, and sometimes dissolve, before adding more.
• Puffiness or heaviness in the mid-face: more volume makes it worse.
• Active skin infection, pregnancy or breastfeeding: we postpone.
• A goal copied from a very different face: we talk about what suits yours.

Reversibility, dissolving and second thoughts

One reason I am comfortable with hyaluronic acid filler is that it can be undone. A dissolving injection breaks it down, and we offer that per area. That is a safety net, not a reason to overfill.
