Lip Filler in Seoul: What the Price Actually Covers

I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director of Delphic Clinic in Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam. Lip filler is one of the treatments I am asked about most by visitors, and the question is almost always about price before it is about anything else.

I understand why. People arrive having seen quotes that differ by three or four times for what sounds like the same thing, and they reasonably assume someone is overcharging. Usually nobody is — they are simply quoting different things. Here is what actually sits behind the number.

The three things that set the price

Notice that none of these are about décor or location. A quote that is low because a cheaper product is used in a smaller volume by a non-doctor is not a bargain — it is a different treatment with the same name.

Why I usually start with less

Lips swell. What you see immediately after injection is not the result, and judging volume on day one is how people end up with more than they wanted. For a first treatment I would rather place a conservative amount, let it settle, and add if you want more.

This is also the cheaper path, which is worth saying plainly. Adding later costs less than dissolving and starting again. If a clinic pushes you toward more volume at the first visit, that is a commercial decision rather than a clinical one.

Quotes I would walk away from

• No product name given, or "we use a premium brand" without specifics.
• No volume stated — "lip filler, one session" is not a quote.
• The person quoting cannot tell you who will inject.
• Product not opened in front of you, or packaging not shown.
• Pressure to decide today because of a price that expires.

Asking these questions is not rude and it is not distrust. A clinic that finds them awkward has told you something useful before you have spent anything.

What to expect afterwards

   First 24–48 hours

   Swelling is at its most noticeable. This is not your result. Avoid heat, alcohol and strenuous exercise.

   Days 3–7

   Swelling settles and bruising, if any, fades. The shape starts to read properly.

3. 3

   Around 2 weeks

   This is when I would judge the result and decide whether anything needs adjusting.

   If something feels wrong

   Disproportionate pain, blanching of the skin, or a colour change is not something to watch at home. Contact the clinic the same day.

If you are on a short trip, plan the injection for the start rather than the day before photographs. I would rather tell you that in advance than have you discover it.
