I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director of Delphic Clinic in Gangnam, one minute from Sinnonhyeon Station. I trained through Korea University Medical Center and I'm a member of the Korean Filler Society and the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Surgery & Laser Medicine, among other societies. I inject filler myself, and forehead filler is a request I always slow down for.
Patients bring me photos of softly rounded foreheads, often Korean actresses in profile, and ask whether forehead filler could give them the same curve. I hear this from visitors regularly, usually from people with a flat or slightly sloping forehead. This page explains who the look suits, why the forehead needs extra care, and how I decide whether to treat it at all.
Why the soft, rounded forehead became a Korean ideal
In Korea a smooth, gently curved forehead is associated with a youthful, soft profile. Many patients are not looking for more height, but for a smoother transition from the forehead into the brow and nose. That is why the request often comes together with questions about the temples and nose.
My overview of Korean filler areas, products and amounts explains the general principle I follow: less product, placed precisely, chosen for the face in front of me. That principle matters even more in the forehead.
Profile test: do you suit forehead filler?
Take a side photo with your hair pulled back and your face relaxed. Then compare it with the table below. It is a starting point for a conversation, not a recommendation.
Why the forehead is a high-caution area for any injector
The forehead and the area between the brows carry blood vessels that connect with the vessels around the eyes. A vascular complication after filler is rare but serious, and in this region it is something every injector must plan around rather than react to. I treat the nose with the same level of caution, and explain why in a piece on nose filler as a high-caution area.
In the forehead, my first job is not to create a curve. It is to make sure nothing goes where it should not.— Dr. Hyunji Kim, Delphic Clinic
What a conservative forehead plan looks like
- A full examination of the forehead, brows and profile, not just the area you point to.
- A small amount of product in the first session, with the option to add later rather than correct later.
- Hyaluronic acid filler only, so that the enzyme hyaluronidase can be used if needed.
- A clear aftercare plan and a direct way to contact the clinic, including after you fly home.
On our menu, filler is listed for areas such as the cheeks, nasolabial folds, chin, marionette lines and lips. The forehead is not one of those listed areas, so I do not offer a standard forehead package. If you ask about it, I examine you first and tell you honestly whether I think it suits you, and what I would suggest instead if it does not.
Sometimes the forehead is not the real issue. Hollow temples can make the upper face look narrow and the forehead look flatter than it is, and softening them changes the profile in a different way, which I describe in my guide to temple filler.
Questions to ask any clinic before forehead filler
- 1
Who injects, and how often do they treat this area?
You want the doctor, not an assistant, and someone who can explain the anatomy.
- 2
Which product and how much?
Ask for the product name and amount, and whether the box is opened in front of you.
- 3
How do you reduce vascular risk here?
A careful injector will explain their technique without hesitation.
- 4
Is hyaluronidase available on site?
It should be there before the first injection, not ordered after a problem.
- 5
How do I reach a doctor afterwards?
Especially important if you are flying home within days.

Foreheads I would leave alone
I will not add filler to a forehead that is already rounded, because more volume tends to look heavy and unnatural. I also decline when the main concern is lines from movement, when a patient wants a dramatic change in a single session, or when there are unresolved problems from previous forehead injections.
If you are travelling and only have a day or two in Seoul, I am more cautious still, because I want to see you again before you leave. In some cases the honest advice is to leave the forehead alone and focus on an area where the balance of benefit and risk is kinder.

I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.

Frequently asked questions
What does forehead filler do?
Forehead contour filler adds a small amount of volume to soften a flat, sloping or uneven forehead so the profile looks smoother and slightly rounder. It is a shape treatment, not a treatment for forehead lines caused by movement.
Is forehead filler risky?
The forehead contains blood vessels that connect with the vessels around the eyes, so it is treated as a high-caution area. Any filler carries a risk of vascular complications, and the injector's anatomical knowledge, technique and amount matter a great deal.
Who is not a good candidate for forehead filler?
People whose forehead is already rounded, who want a dramatic change in one session, who mainly want to soften expression lines, or who have unresolved problems from previous forehead injections.
Do you list forehead filler on your menu?
Our menu lists filler for areas such as the cheeks, nasolabial folds, chin, marionette lines and lips. The forehead is not one of the listed areas, so I assess it individually in consultation and may suggest a different plan.
What should I ask before forehead filler?
Ask who will inject, which product and how much, how the injector reduces vascular risk in this area, whether hyaluronidase is available on site, and how to reach a doctor quickly after treatment.
