How to Get Rid of Chubby Cheeks Without Surgery: What Causes Them, and What ONDA, Titanium and Injections Can and Can't Do
Angie (@enjiinseoul) went to Seoul to slim her face with ONDA, Titanium and a fat-dissolving injection. Her doctor explains what actually makes cheeks look chubby, which causes each tool can reach, and which it can't.

“My cheeks have always been round — can anything actually change that?” I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director of Delphic Clinic in Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam. I trained at Korea University Medical Center, and I consult and treat international patients myself. Chubby cheeks come up in my consultations almost daily, often from people who have already tried diet, face exercises or massage rollers and seen little difference. Angie (@enjiinseoul) came to Seoul with the same goal and had ONDA, Titanium and a fat-dissolving injection. Here I answer how to get rid of chubby cheeks without surgery: what is usually behind them, which treatment reaches which cause, and when I'd tell you treatment won't help.

In her own words
Come with me get rid of my face fats in Korea! Treatments I got: Onda lifting, Titanium, Fat dissolving injection
Why cheeks look chubby: the four usual causes
If you've been searching how to get rid of chubby cheeks, the honest first answer is that “chubby” describes a look, not a cause. Before I recommend anything, I want to know which of these is doing most of the work.
- Fat in the cheeks and lower face — soft, pinchable, often slow to change with diet.
- Skin that has lost some firmness, so the lower cheek sits heavier and rounder.
- Temporary puffiness from salt, poor sleep, heat or a long flight.
- Bone shape and jaw muscle — structure, not fat, which these treatments don't change.
Most chubby-looking faces are a mix of the first two. That's why one treatment often disappoints and why I usually match a tool to each layer.
Which non-surgical treatment reaches which cause
- 1
ONDA — broader fat across the cheeks
Coolwaves™ microwaves heat deep fat cells while the surface stays cool, reducing volume and tightening. It doesn't change bone or muscle.
- 2
Fat-dissolving injection — small stubborn pockets
Placed precisely where fat sits along the jaw or lower cheek. It's for localised pockets, not a whole-face reduction.
- 3
Titanium — the skin on top
Three laser wavelengths support firmness and tone. It doesn't reduce fat; it keeps the slimmer shape from looking loose.
In her earlier case I went through Angie's three-step plan treatment by treatment. If you want the numbers behind ONDA's settings, I've also explained whether 40 kJ of ONDA is enough.
Can you lose cheek fat without surgery? What treatment won't change
- A wide face from bone structure stays a wide face.
- A strong chewing muscle at the jaw angle is a separate problem.
- ONDA is not a weight-loss treatment; it works on localised fat.
- Puffiness from salt or sleep comes back with the habit.
This is the part I find most useful to say out loud. Patients with round faces from structure sometimes spend money chasing fat that isn't there. A careful look at the consultation saves that.
One treatment or a combination like Angie's?
If your cheeks are mainly soft fat and the skin is firm, I may start with ONDA or the injection alone. If fat and slightly looser skin are both present, a combination makes sense, because reducing volume under loose skin can leave it looking slack.
Fat-dissolving injections have trade-offs worth knowing before you combine them. I've written about the side effects that injection reviews understate.
What a chubby-cheek plan costs here
These are example first-visit menu prices for the same three treatments. They aren't a statement of what Angie paid. Injection volume and device energy change the total.
- ONDA Lifting (Face) 40kj (First-visit trial)₩270,000≈ $200
- Titanium 40KJ (First-visit trial)₩340,000≈ $250
- Face Fat-Dissolving Injection 3cc: DelQ (ACCU)/DelFit (Non-Steroid)₩30,000≈ $20
Example menu prices for this combination — not a statement of what Angie paid. VAT excluded · the same price for Korean and international patients · regular prices: ONDA face 40kJ ₩400,000, Titanium 40kJ ₩500,000 · the final plan is set at the free consultation.
Chubby cheeks I'd leave alone, for now
- You're in your early twenties and the fullness is youthful volume that may soften on its own.
- You're still losing weight — wait until it's stable.
- The roundness is mostly bone or muscle.
- You're pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a pacemaker or metal implants in the area.
How long until cheeks look slimmer, and how to plan the trip
- 1
The first days
Mild swelling can actually make cheeks look fuller at first. The injection area may feel tender.
- 2
Several weeks to 2–3 months
ONDA's fat reduction and tightening become clearer as collagen renews. That's when photos are worth comparing.
- 3
During your stay
Free 1:1 consultation, same-day treatment possible, English and Chinese interpreters on site, near Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 3.
Is this for you?
Who this combination genuinely suits
Signs it may be time
- Your face looks rounder in photos than you feel it should
- Face exercises and rollers haven't changed much
- You're planning a few days in Seoul and want a no-surgery option
- You'd like a doctor to tell you whether it's fat at all
A good fit if
- Your cheeks feel soft and pinchable, not just wide
- Diet and exercise slimmed your body more than your face
- You notice slight looseness along with the fullness
- You want a gradual change without surgery
Not the right first step if: your face looks round mainly because of bone or jaw muscle, you're still losing weight, the fullness is youthful volume likely to soften with time, or you're pregnant, breastfeeding or have a pacemaker or metal implants in the area.

“Send me a front and side photo before your trip. I'll tell you honestly whether your cheeks are fat, skin, structure or a mix — and whether treatment is worth it.”
Questions patients ask me about this
How do you get rid of chubby cheeks without surgery?
First identify the cause: fat, looser skin, puffiness or bone structure. Fat can be reduced with ONDA or a fat-dissolving injection, and looser skin can be firmed with Titanium; bone and muscle shape need a different approach.
Why are my cheeks chubby even though I'm slim?
Cheek fat often responds slowly to weight loss, and some faces are simply full by structure. Puffiness from salt, sleep or travel can also make cheeks look rounder than they are.
Does a fat-dissolving injection work on cheeks?
It's suited to small, localised pockets along the jaw or lower cheek rather than the whole face. The area may feel tender for a few days, and the doctor decides placement after assessing your face.
How long does it take for cheeks to look slimmer?
Early swelling can hide the change at first. With ONDA, fat reduction and tightening usually become clearer over several weeks to 2–3 months.
How much does chubby cheek treatment cost at Delphic Clinic?
On the example first-visit menu, ONDA face 40kJ is ₩270,000, Titanium 40kJ ₩340,000 and a 3cc facial fat-dissolving injection ₩30,000, VAT excluded. International patients pay the same as Korean patients.
