“Zero Downtime” in Korea: Berita Korea's Six Months in Seoul, and What the Phrase Should Really Mean
Berita Korea (@beritakorea.id) credits one thing, not the air or water, for a changed face after six months in Seoul, and calls it zero downtime. The post doesn't name it, so here is what “zero downtime” honestly covers, what it costs, and where it stops.

“Zero downtime” is the phrase I hear most from people who live in Seoul and still have to go to work the next morning. I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director of Delphic Clinic in Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam; I trained at Korea University Medical Center, and I consult and treat international patients myself, including many who are here for months rather than days. The caption credits one thing for the change but doesn't say what it is, and I won't fill that in. Instead, I'll explain what zero downtime should honestly mean, the options that come closest, their prices, and the point where it stops being true.

In her own words
Six months in Korea and I barely recognize my own face. Everyone assumes it’s the air or the water, but there’s one thing that actually did it — spilling it in this video. Zero downtime, and you can see it right away.
“One thing” — and the caption keeps it a secret
The post says six months in Korea changed the creator's face, that it wasn't the air or the water, and that the one thing responsible had zero downtime with results visible right away. The caption keeps the name for the video, and this page is written from the caption, so I'm not going to attach a device to it here.
What I can talk about is the promise in that phrase. “Zero downtime” is on almost every clinic sign in Gangnam, and it means different things depending on who says it.
Three things “zero downtime” can mean
- 1
Nothing visible
No redness, swelling or marks that someone across a desk would notice. This is the meaning most people care about.
- 2
Nothing to change in your day
You can wash your face, wear makeup and go back to work the same day.
- 3
Nothing to do afterwards
This one is rarely true. Even gentle treatments usually come with sunscreen, moisturiser, and a few days without saunas, heavy drinking or hard workouts.
When I say a treatment has no downtime, I mean the first two. I always tell patients about the third, because skipping aftercare is how small reactions turn into longer ones.
The options that come closest
LDM uses high-density ultrasound to support skin recovery and calm redness and dryness. It's one of the gentlest things on our menu, with a same-day return. I explain how LDM calms, hydrates and firms skin in more detail on the blog.
Shurink Universe is a HIFU device that delivers focused ultrasound below the surface for firmness, with sessions of 15–20 minutes. Makeup is fine right after; some people feel temporary tingling or slight swelling. Here's my guide to how I tighten faces with Shrink Universe HIFU.
Aqua Peel clears pores and hydrates in 30–40 minutes with no flaking afterwards. For people whose skin looks congested from city life, it's often where I start.
Where “zero downtime” stops being true
- Skin boosters like Rejuran usually need 1–3 days for small bumps to settle.
- Aqua glow injections can show for 3–7 days.
- InMode typically needs 2–3 days, and Titanium can leave redness for 1–2 days.
- Any treatment can react differently on your skin than on someone else's.
Those aren't bad treatments; they just aren't zero downtime. If someone promises otherwise, ask what the aftercare sheet says. I've listed side effects step by step in my glass skin side-effects guide.
What no-downtime care costs

If you live in Seoul, not just visit
The caption is about months, not a weekend. People who live here have an advantage: they can do gentle sessions on a regular rhythm instead of trying to fit everything into one trip. That rhythm, set with your doctor, usually matters more than any single session.

Is this for you?
Who this combination genuinely suits
Signs it may be time
- You've moved to Korea and your skin feels different than it did at home
- Redness or dryness flares with the seasons here
- You've seen Korean coworkers keep up regular clinic care
- You want to start small before trying anything with recovery time
A good fit if
- You work or study in Seoul and can't take recovery days
- You want gradual, regular care rather than one big treatment
- Your skin looks tired, dry or congested from city life
- You'd like to understand the aftercare before you book, not after
Not the right first step if: you're looking for a dramatic change in sagging, deep scars or volume from a single no-downtime session, or you can't follow even a few days of basic aftercare.

“If you're living in Seoul, send me a photo and tell me your weekly schedule. I'll suggest what truly fits with no visible downtime, and what's worth saving for a long weekend.”
Questions patients ask me about this
Which skin treatments in Korea have zero downtime?
Treatments such as LDM, Aqua Peel and Shurink Universe HIFU usually allow you to return to daily life the same day. Basic aftercare still applies, like sunscreen and avoiding saunas or heavy drinking for a few days.
How much do no-downtime skin treatments cost in Seoul?
At Delphic Clinic, first-visit prices are ₩39,000 for a 6-minute LDM session, ₩79,000 for Shurink Universe Line Type 300 shots and ₩39,000 for Aqua Peel, VAT excluded. International patients pay the same as Korean patients.
Does “no downtime” mean nothing will happen to my skin?
No. It usually means you can go about your day without visible recovery. Temporary tingling, mild redness or slight swelling can still occur, and aftercare instructions should be followed.
Can I go to work right after Shurink Universe?
Most people can. Cleansing and makeup are fine right after treatment, though you should avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and saunas for about a week.
Is it better to do skin treatments regularly if I live in Korea?
For many people, regular gentle sessions planned with a doctor work well, because skin is maintained gradually rather than pushed hard in one visit. The right interval depends on the treatment and your skin.
