I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director and lead physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam, one minute from Sinnonhyeon Station. I trained at Korea University Medical Center and I am a member of the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Surgery & Laser Medicine and the Korean Filler Society. Lifting is the core of my practice, and I place every thread myself, which means I also answer the messages that arrive afterwards, including at 2 weeks after thread lift.
A surprising number of those messages arrive 2 weeks after thread lift. By then patients have flown home, the bruises have faded, and they are studying their face in the mirror with a new set of questions: is this tightness normal, why is there a little dent, did the lift drop? This page answers those questions for the two-week point specifically, and tells you when to stop reading and message us.
Where most faces are at the two-week mark
The first days are about swelling, bruising and tightness. By the end of the second week, the bruises have usually faded and the face looks more like itself. Under the skin, though, tissue is still forming around the threads, which is why some restrictions still apply. The full picture of the procedure is in my thread lift Korea first-timer guide; this page stays on the two-week question.
Normal at 2 weeks, or worth a message? A side-by-side
Dimples, lumps and a lift that seems to have dropped
These three worries make up most of my two-week messages. A dimple usually forms where the thread holds tissue at an entry or anchor point, and it often softens as the area relaxes. A firm line or small lump can be a thread you are feeling through thin skin, which is common and usually becomes less noticeable.
The so-called drop is mostly swelling leaving. Day-one photos show a tighter, slightly swollen face, and at two weeks the lift looks calmer and more natural. Reviews rarely mention this, which I discuss in my post on what thread lift reviewers miss.
Still off-limits at two weeks, and what is back on
If you need dental treatment soon, tell your dentist you have had threads placed and ask for short breaks during long procedures. Sleeping on your back for a little longer is also a kind thing to do for the threads.
Flying home with threads still settling
Most international patients are already home at two weeks. That is fine, but it changes how you get help. Before you leave Seoul, save our contact details and take a set of clear photos so you have a baseline to compare against.
- On the plane: drink water, avoid leaning your face against the window, and use a neck pillow so you do not sleep face-down.
- At home: take photos in the same light every few days rather than checking the mirror every hour.
- If something changes: send photos to us first. Many questions can be answered without a visit.
- If you have fever, spreading redness or discharge: see a doctor locally the same day, and let us know too.
A two-week message with a clear photo is never a bother. The patients I worry about are the ones who wait a month to ask.— Dr. Hyunji Kim, Delphic Clinic
Copy this message to send with your two-week photos
This short template gives me what I need to answer you accurately from a distance.
- Date of my thread lift, and the areas treated.
- What I notice, where exactly, and whether it is better, the same or worse than last week.
- Pain on a scale of 0 to 10, and whether there is heat, redness, discharge or fever.
- Photos: front and both sides in daylight, plus a close-up of the area.
Who should not plan a thread lift around a short trip
If you have an important event within the first two weeks, need major dental work soon after, or cannot avoid face-down sleeping or massage, I would suggest a different timing or a different treatment. A thread lift in Seoul works best for patients who can follow the first weeks of care calmly, even after they fly home.

4.7 · 260 Google reviewsI received ONDA lifting and Juvelook Skin treatment at Delpic Clinic. Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.

Frequently asked questions
Is it normal to still feel tight 2 weeks after thread lift?
Yes. A pulling or tight feeling, especially when you open your mouth wide, chew or yawn, commonly lasts beyond two weeks while the tissue settles around the threads. It should be gradually easing, not getting worse.
Is a dimple 2 weeks after thread lift normal?
Small dimples or puckers near entry or anchor points often soften as swelling settles. If a dimple is still clearly visible at two weeks, or is getting deeper, send your clinic a photo. Some need a simple adjustment.
Why does my thread lift look like it dropped after 2 weeks?
Part of the early lift is swelling and the immediate pull of the threads. As the swelling settles, the face looks more natural and less tight, which can read as a drop. The more settled look at this stage is closer to the real result.
Can I get a facial massage 2 weeks after thread lift?
I advise avoiding facial massage, firm rubbing and face-down massage tables for the first few weeks, because pressure can shift threads before tissue has formed around them. Ask your doctor for the timing that fits your plan.
Can I fly after a thread lift?
Flying is usually fine after the first day or two. Stay hydrated, avoid sleeping face-down against a seat or window, and save your clinic's contact details so you can send photos if anything changes after you are home.
When should I contact the clinic after a thread lift?
Contact the clinic promptly if you have increasing pain, redness or heat, swelling that grows, discharge, fever, a thread end poking through the skin, or asymmetry that is getting worse rather than better.
