I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director and lead physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam, near Sinnonhyeon Station. I trained at Korea University Medical Center and I am a member of the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Surgery & Laser Medicine and the Korean Filler Society. Lifting, laser and anti-ageing care fill most of my days, along with a steady stream of visitors who want the skin they see in Korean dramas.
"How to get Korean glass skin" is one of the questions I hear most from first-time visitors, usually after they have bought a full ten-step routine and feel it is not working. My honest answer surprises them: a good part of glass skin happens at home, and some of it is undone at home too. This page separates what your bathroom shelf can do from where a clinic actually adds something.
Glass skin is a surface you can see, not a product you can buy
When I look at skin that people call glass skin, I see three things: a smooth surface without flaking, enough water in the skin that it looks plump, and even tone without patches of redness. Light reflects evenly from that kind of surface, and that reflection is the glow.
No serum creates that on its own. Products support the conditions, and the skin does the rest over weeks. Keeping that in mind saves people a great deal of money on the next bottle.
What home care can realistically do for glass skin
- Keep the barrier intact with a gentle, low-foam cleanser and lukewarm water.
- Layer light hydration: a toner or essence, then a moisturiser suited to your skin type.
- Smooth the surface with mild, occasional exfoliation rather than daily scrubbing.
- Protect what you build with sunscreen every morning, including cloudy days.
- Support it with sleep and water. Skin shows a short night quickly.
Where the bathroom routine stops working
Home care works on the very top of the skin. It cannot reach deep into congested pores, it cannot place hydration inside the dermis, and it does little for texture left by old acne. If you have followed a steady routine for a couple of months and the same issue is still there, the problem is likely below the reach of a product.
The full combination I build in clinic, and why one session gives shine rather than glass, is in my Korean glass skin treatment plan.
A four-week home plan to try before you spend on treatments
- 1
Week 1: strip it back
Pause strong actives and scrubs. Use a gentle cleanser, one hydrating layer, a moisturiser and sunscreen.
- 2
Week 2: add hydration
Add a second light hydrating layer in the evening if your skin still feels tight.
- 3
Week 3: one gentle exfoliation
Introduce mild exfoliation once a week, and stop if you notice stinging or redness.
- 4
Week 4: judge in daylight
Take a photo by a window at the same time of day as in week 1, and compare.

If week four shows a smoother, calmer surface, keep going; you may not need a clinic at all. If the same congestion, tightness or redness is still there, that is useful information to bring to a consultation.
When adding a clinic step makes sense
A clinic step makes sense when you know which layer is the problem. Aqua Peel uses AHA and BHA solutions to clear debris, sebum and dead skin from pores, then replenishes moisture. SkinVive places hyaluronic acid directly into the dermis for hydration a cream cannot reach. LDM uses high-density ultrasound and suits skin that is reactive or red.
If you are visiting Seoul and want a sense of budget, I set out one visit, a short course and a whole season in my glass skin cost breakdown. Below are our real Aqua Peel prices, the step most first-timers start with.
| 1st Aqua Peel 1 session (Extraction not included/Solution 1-2) (First-visit trial) | ₩39,000$30 |
| Aqua Peel 1 session (LED treatment included/Solution 1-3) | ₩80,000$60 |
The glow comes from skin that is left alone to be healthy. My job is to remove what is in the way, not to add more.— Dr. Hyunji Kim, Delphic Clinic
Skin I would not push toward glass right now
- Skin that is sunburned or freshly irritated from a new product. Let it settle first.
- Active, inflamed acne. That needs treating as acne, not polishing.
- Someone flying home the next morning who wants an injected booster. Small marks may still show.
- Anyone already exfoliating daily. The first step is to stop, not to add a peel.

4.7 · 260 Google reviewsI received ONDA lifting and Juvelook Skin treatment at Delpic Clinic. Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.
If you have tried the home plan and want to know what is still blocking the glow, bring your photos to a free one-to-one consultation. Frequently asked questions
How do you get Korean glass skin at home?
Keep cleansing gentle, layer hydration rather than piling on actives, exfoliate sparingly, and wear sunscreen every day. Consistency over several weeks matters more than any single product.
Can you get glass skin without clinic treatments?
Many people get a visibly smoother, more hydrated surface with home care alone. What home care cannot do well is clear congested pores deeply, add hydration inside the skin, or change texture caused by scarring.
Which clinic treatment helps glass skin the most?
It depends on what is blocking the glow. A congested, dull surface usually responds to a peel-based facial such as Aqua Peel, dehydrated skin to an injected booster such as SkinVive, and irritated or reactive skin to calming care such as LDM.
How long does it take to get glass skin?
A home routine needs several weeks before you can judge it fairly. A clinic facial gives a fresher surface quickly, but a lasting change in hydration usually takes a short course rather than one visit.
Is over-exfoliating bad for glass skin?
Yes. Exfoliating too often is the most common reason I see dull, tight, irritated skin in people chasing glass skin. A damaged barrier reflects light poorly, so it works against the look you want.
