I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director and lead physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam. I trained at Korea University Medical Center, and I am a member of the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Surgery & Laser Medicine and the Korean Society for Laser Dermatology & Hair. My work centres on lifting, laser and anti-ageing care, and I also see many visitors whose first clinic experience in Seoul is a facial.
Patients often ask me about Korean facial benefits as if there were one list that applies to everyone. There isn't. The same session can be a real improvement for congested skin and a pleasant but small change for someone whose concern is sagging. This page matches the benefits to the concern you actually have.
The benefit people expect versus the one they get
Most people book a facial hoping for brighter, tighter, smoother skin all at once. What a good clinic facial reliably delivers is narrower: a cleaner surface, better hydration and calmer skin. That is a real benefit, and for the right person it is exactly what they need.
Disappointment usually comes from a mismatch, not from a bad facial. If your main worry is a softening jawline, a facial will feel nice and change little. Knowing that before you book is the point of this page.
Korean facial benefits, matched to five skin concerns
Aqua Peel is the cleansing half: AHA and BHA solutions clear debris, sebum and dead skin from the pores, then soothing solutions replenish moisture. LDM is the calming half, using high-density ultrasound in a hydration, acne or redness mode. More on the Aqua Peel itself is in my Aqua Peel in Korea guide.
Benefits that fade quickly, and benefits that build
The clean, bright surface is the benefit you see first, and it is also the one that fades first, because pores fill and the surface renews. Hydration and calmness are slower, and they hold better when sessions are repeated and the home routine supports them.
That is why I usually suggest one facial for a trip or an event, and a short course only for someone with an ongoing concern such as recurring congestion or reactive skin. For how LDM fits into that kind of plan, see my LDM treatment guide.
Quick self-check: is a facial the right first spend for you?
- My skin looks dull or rough, but it is not sagging. A facial is a sensible first step.
- I get blackheads and clogged pores that home care does not clear. A facial is a sensible first step.
- My skin is red and reactive after travel or weather. A facial with LDM may help.
- My main concern is a heavier jawline or loose skin. Ask about lifting instead.
- My main concern is acne scars or brown spots. Ask about other treatments first.
A facial is a good treatment when it is the right one. I would rather you spend once on the right thing than twice on the pleasant thing.— Dr. Hyunji Kim, Delphic Clinic
When I would steer you away from a facial
- Your skin is sunburned or freshly irritated. Let it recover first.
- You had a peel or laser very recently. Stacking surface treatments can over-irritate.
- Inflamed acne is your main problem. That needs an acne plan.
- You are hoping a facial will lift or tighten. It will not, and I would rather say so now.
If you are deciding between a spa facial and a clinic one, the difference in what happens on the bed is set out in clinic facial vs spa facial in Seoul.

4.7 · 260 Google reviewsI received ONDA lifting and Juvelook Skin treatment at Delpic Clinic. Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.
If you are not sure whether a facial is what your skin needs, ask me in a free one-to-one consultation. I will look at your skin, tell you what a facial would change for you, and suggest something else if it would not help. English and Chinese interpreters are on site, international patients pay the same price as Korean patients, and we are one minute from Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station.

Frequently asked questions
What are the main Korean facial benefits?
A clinic Korean facial cleans congested pores, smooths a dull surface and leaves skin more hydrated. With LDM added, it can also calm redness and reactive skin. These are surface and comfort benefits, not structural changes.
Does a Korean facial help acne?
It can help with congestion such as blackheads and clogged pores, and LDM has an acne mode. Active, inflamed acne usually needs a medical acne plan rather than a facial alone.
How long do Korean facial benefits last?
The fresh, clean surface is most visible in the first days. Hydration and calmness build better with a short course and a sensible home routine than with a single visit.
Can a Korean facial shrink pores or lift sagging skin?
A facial can make pores look cleaner and less obvious, but it does not change pore structure or lift sagging skin. Those need different treatments, such as microneedle RF for pores or ultrasound lifting for laxity.
Is a Korean facial safe for sensitive skin?
Aqua Peel is a gentle peel suited to many sensitive skin types, and LDM has a soothing redness mode. A doctor should still check your skin first, especially if it is irritated or recently treated.
