I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director and lead physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam. My background is Korea University Medical Center, and I'm a member of the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Surgery & Laser Medicine, the Korean Society for Laser Dermatology & Hair, the Korean Society for Obesity & Aesthetic Treatment and the Korean Filler Society. My clinical focus is lifting, laser and anti-aging work.
"Which Korean skin booster injection should I get?" comes up in my consult room nearly every week, and it's the question I'm worst at answering in one sentence. The closest I can get: there is no single Korean skin booster injection. Rejuran, the PDRN salmon injection, Juvelook and exosome boosters each do a different job, and the right one depends on whether your skin is short on water, on repair, or on structure.
If you've already had hydrating shots at home and saw little change, that often points to a mismatch between product and problem rather than to skin that can't respond.
In short
- "Skin booster" is a category. The four common Korean options work through different mechanisms.
- Dry and tight skin, thin and crepey skin, and uneven or pitted texture each lead to a different first choice.
- Boosters improve skin quality gradually. They don't lift sagging or replace lost volume.
- Most work as a series. Rejuran's recommended interval is 2–3 weeks, which shapes how a trip is planned.
- At Delphic, the doctor performs the injection, same-day treatment is possible after the consultation, and English and Chinese interpreters are on site.

What does a Korean skin booster injection actually put into the skin?
A small amount of active material, placed by needle into the dermis, the layer under the surface where collagen and water-holding tissue live. The material differs by product: DNA-derived polynucleotides, shorter DNA fragments, a collagen-stimulating biostimulator, or exosome-based solutions.
A cream sits on top of the skin, and the outer layer is built to keep large molecules out. Dermatologists Bos and Meinardi described this in their "500 Dalton rule": compounds much heavier than about 500 Da pass through intact skin poorly. DNA chains and collagen stimulators are far larger than that, which is why the same ingredient names on a jar and in a syringe are not doing the same thing.
On our menu, the boosters people ask about most by name are Rejuran (polynucleotide derived from salmon DNA), the PDRN salmon injection, Juvelook, and the 5th Generation Exosome Exohealer. Rejuran and PDRN sound alike, and many people assume they're interchangeable. A 2025 review in Pharmaceutics separates them clearly: polynucleotides (PN) are longer chains that hold water and act as a scaffold in tissue, while PDRN is made of shorter fragments that work mainly as a repair signal.
Water, repair or structure: three groups of skin
Before a product name means anything, the skin usually needs to be placed in one of three groups. Skin short on water feels tight by afternoon and makeup cracks along fine lines.
Skin short on repair is reactive, slow to settle after acne or laser, and flares easily. Skin short on structure looks thin, crepey under the eyes, or uneven with shallow scars and enlarged pores.
What usually tells these groups apart is visible on the face: how the skin under the eyes folds when you smile, whether fine lines stay after the expression relaxes, and how pore walls and scar edges look under side light. How the skin recovered after a previous laser or peel also matters, because slow recovery says more about repair capacity than any single photo.
Most people sit in two groups at once. That is where combination plans come from, and it's also why a single product bought on a friend's recommendation can feel like it did nothing.
Why hydrating shots back home often change little
Usually for one of four reasons: the product matched a different problem, there was only one session where a series was needed, the result was judged too early, or the real concern was sagging, which boosters don't treat.
Product mismatch is the first thing to check. A hyaluronic-acid hydrating shot is aimed at dry skin. It does much less for crepey under-eye skin or to texture left by old acne, because those are structure problems.
Timing matters too. Hydration changes can be felt within days, but changes that depend on new collagen take weeks, so a verdict at two weeks can be premature. A systematic review of polynucleotides in aesthetic medicine looked at studies that used repeated sessions rather than a single injection, which is a hint about how these products are meant to be used.
If your jawline or cheeks have dropped, no booster will move them back. That's a lifting question, and the devices we use for it (Ulthera, Thermage FLX, ONDA, Titanium) are a separate conversation. None of this means the clinic you went to back home made a mistake; a booster chosen for one goal can be done correctly and still not answer the question you were asking.
Rejuran, PDRN, Juvelook or exosome: how the choice usually falls
The skin type points to a first choice; the exam and your history decide it. This table is how the reasoning tends to go, not a prescription.
Verified Google reviews
4.7 · 260 Google reviewsI received ONDA lifting and Juvelook Skin treatment at Delpic Clinic. Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.
Combinations exist because skin rarely falls in one row. Our one-day skin booster packages pair Rejuran Healer with either the exosome booster, Rejuran Eye or Juvelook Skin, followed by LDM in its hydration and soothing mode. If you're weighing the two salmon-derived options specifically, I've written a separate piece on choosing between the salmon injection and Rejuran, one on how Juvelook works on texture and firmness, and one on how Rejuran works on thin, tired skin.

Side effects, and skin these injections don't suit
Expect redness, mild swelling and small raised bumps where the needle went in, sometimes a bruise. These usually settle within a few days; for Rejuran the stated downtime is 1–3 days. A systematic review of polynucleotides reported that adverse events in polynucleotide studies were mostly mild and short-lived.
Less common problems include infection at injection sites, lumps that take longer to soften, and allergic reactions. Because Rejuran and the PDRN injection are derived from salmon DNA, tell the doctor about any fish allergy before anything is drawn up.
These injections are usually postponed or avoided if:
- there is active infection, a cold sore or inflamed acne in the area to be treated
- you're pregnant or breastfeeding
- you take blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder (this needs discussion, not a quick yes)
- you form keloids or raised scars easily
- you have an event in the next two or three days and can't have visible bumps
- your main concern is sagging rather than skin quality
When you don't need to come to Seoul for this
You don't need a flight if your skin is basically healthy and the concern is mild dullness that sunscreen, sleep and a steady routine haven't had time to fix. You also don't need to come if you're mid-flare with eczema or active acne; treat that first, wherever you live.
If your plan depends on three sessions two or three weeks apart and you can only visit Seoul once a year, a clinic you can reach regularly may serve that plan better than we can. And if what you're after is an overall brighter tone rather than texture or thinness, a booster isn't the main tool, and that is worth raising at the consultation rather than assuming.
How many sessions fit into one trip?
For most visitors, one booster session per trip, and a second only if you're staying two to three weeks, which is Rejuran's recommended interval. Plan the session early in the stay, not the night before a wedding or a big meeting.
The clinic is open Mon–Fri 10:30–21:00 and Sat 10:30–17:00, and closed on Sundays, so a weekday evening after landing or after a day out can work. Delphic is directly connected to Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station on Line 9 and the Sinbundang Line, at 476 Gangnam-daero. Same-day treatment is possible after the consultation, which matters when you only have a few days. The Delphic Clinic English page lists the full treatment menu.
What a short trip can't do is show you the full result. If Juvelook or a structure-focused plan makes sense for you, the change you're paying attention to will mostly happen after you're home.
A self-check to fill in before you message
Answering these takes five minutes and gives the first conversation something specific to start from:
- What did you have at home? Product name if you know it, number of sessions, and the date of the last one.
- What changed, and what didn't?
- Your main concern in one line: dryness, crepey under-eyes, texture and scars, dullness, or sagging.
- Any fish allergy, blood thinners, pregnancy or breastfeeding?
- Do you form raised scars easily?
- Any event within three days of the dates you're considering?
- Your travel dates, and whether a return visit within two or three weeks is realistic.
If you've filled that in, send it on WhatsApp together with one daylight photo of your face without makeup, so your 1:1 consultation in Seoul starts from your answers. The final choice is made there, in person, with English and Chinese interpreters on site, right at Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station.
Frequently asked questions
Is a skin booster the same as filler?
No. Filler adds volume to a specific spot to change shape. A skin booster is spread in small amounts across an area to improve the quality of the skin itself, such as hydration, thinness or texture, and it does not change facial contour.
Can I get a salmon-derived booster if I have a fish allergy?
Rejuran and the PDRN salmon injection are derived from salmon DNA, so a fish allergy has to be raised before treatment. Whether it rules the product out depends on your allergy history, and the doctor decides that in person. Non-salmon options on the menu, such as Juvelook or the exosome booster (Exohealer), may be considered instead.
How long until I see a difference after a skin booster?
A hydrated feel can show within days, while changes that depend on new collagen take weeks. Many boosters are planned as a series, so a single session judged at two weeks often looks smaller than the eventual change. Individual response varies.
Can I fly home the day after a skin booster injection?
Many people travel within a day or two, but bumps and redness can still be visible, and Rejuran's stated downtime is about 1–3 days. Ask about aftercare for your specific product at the visit, and leave a buffer before any event.
Will a Korean skin booster give me glass skin?
Glass skin is a look, not a treatment. Better hydration and smoother texture contribute to it, and boosters can help with both, but tone, oil, pores and daily care all play a part. No single injection produces it on its own.

PDRN Korean Pharmacy Shopping for Skin Over 50, and When a Jar Isn't Enough
A PDRN cream from a Korean pharmacy is a reasonable moisturizer for dry, tight skin. It can't do what injected PDRN is studied for, because the molecule is far too large to pass through intact skin.

Rejuran Korean Skincare on a Short Seoul Trip, From the Serum on Your Shelf to the Injection
Rejuran Korean skincare means two things: serums sold under the Rejuran name, and the Rejuran injection, which places salmon-derived polynucleotide (PN) into the skin. Only the injection reaches the dermis, with 1–3 days downtime.

Korean Skincare Salmon DNA, From the Label on a Serum to the Line on a Clinic Menu
Korean skincare salmon DNA means PDRN or PN, DNA fragments purified from salmon or trout sperm cells. A serum stays mostly on the surface; an injection places the same ingredient family in the dermis, so the two do different jobs.
