I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director of Delphic Clinic in Gangnam, one minute from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 3. I trained through Korea University Medical Center and I'm a member of the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Surgery & Laser Medicine and the Korean Society for Laser Dermatology & Hair, among others. Most of my day is lifting, laser and anti-aging work, but small growths like a skin tag on neck skin are something I remove myself, often for patients who came in for something else.
A skin tag on neck skin is one of those things patients mention almost apologetically at the end of a consultation, usually while tugging at a collar. It catches on necklaces, it bothers them in photos, and they are never quite sure whether it is a mole. This post covers how I tell them apart, why home removal goes wrong, what removal costs on our menu, and how to look after your neck in the first week.
Skin tags often get bundled together with moles when people plan a clinic visit in Korea, and my guide to which moles suit a trip explains how to sort your spots before you book. This post focuses only on the soft little bumps on the neck, which follow their own rules.
Skin tag on neck or a mole? Three things to look at
- Shape: a skin tag often hangs from a narrow stalk and can be moved gently; many moles are flat or dome-shaped and firmly attached.
- Feel: skin tags are usually soft and squashy; moles tend to feel firmer.
- Colour: skin tags are usually skin-coloured or light brown; a dark, multicoloured or changing bump needs a doctor's look first.
These are notes for your consultation, not a diagnosis. Several other bumps can look similar on the neck, and I compared the common look-alikes in my piece on moles on skin and the common types. If anything about your bump has changed recently, mention it first.
Why necks grow skin tags in little clusters
The neck folds and rubs all day against collars, scarves, bag straps and necklaces. Skin tags tend to appear where skin rubs on skin or on fabric, which is why they often show up in groups along the sides of the neck, under the arms or in other folds. They also tend to become more common with age.
That friction is also why a tag that has been quiet for years can suddenly become red or sore after being snagged. An irritated tag is not the moment for removal; I usually let it calm down first.
What not to do at home: thread, scissors and freezing kits
I understand the temptation, especially when a tag looks like it is hanging by a thread. But tying off, snipping or freezing a tag at home can lead to bleeding that is hard to stop, infection, or a mark that heals unevenly on the visible skin of the neck. Home removal also skips the one step that matters most: making sure the bump really is a skin tag.
The tag itself is a small job. Confirming it is only a tag is the part I never skip.— Dr. Hyunji Kim, Delphic Clinic
How a neck skin tag removal goes in my room
- 1
Count and examine
I look at each bump, separate skin tags from moles or other growths, and flag anything that needs evaluation instead.
- 2
Agree the list and price
We confirm which tags to remove today and the per-spot price, so there are no surprises at the desk.
- 3
Numbing and removal
After numbing, I remove the tags precisely with the laser while limiting heat to the surrounding skin. A short session usually takes around 10 to 20 minutes.
- 4
Dressing and instructions
You leave with simple aftercare instructions, and the interpreter makes sure every step is clear in your language.

Counting your tags and estimating the bill
On our menu, skin tag removal sits in the same line as milia and wart removal, priced per spot, with the price varying by size for spots over 2mm. Count your tags in a mirror with a ruler in daylight, note roughly which are tiny and which are larger, and you will have a fair estimate before you arrive. My guide on tallying your own bill before you fly walks through the same method for moles.
| Mole Removal 1 Spot (2mm or less) | ₩10,000$10 |
| Mole Removal 1 Spot (over 2mm) - Price varies by size | ₩20,000$10 |
| Body Mole Removal 1 Spot (Varies by size) - Price for over 2mm varies by size | ₩20,000$10 |
| Milia/Wart/Skin Tag Removal 1 Spot (Varies by size) - Price for over 2mm varies by size | ₩20,000$10 |
| Mole removal (1 mole, 2mm or more) | ₩20,000$10 |
| Removal of 1 body mole (varies by size) | ₩20,000$10 |
| Removal of 1 seborrheic keratosis/wart/skin tag (varies by size) | ₩20,000$10 |
Neck aftercare: collars, necklaces, sun and showers
Showering is usually fine with a little care around the sites; I wrote a separate guide on how to shower after mole removal, and the same principles apply to skin tags. Pat dry rather than rubbing with a towel, and leave scarves and necklaces off for the first few days.
When I would rather not remove a neck skin tag yet
- The bump is dark, multicoloured, growing quickly or bleeding on its own. That needs evaluation first.
- The tag is currently inflamed or sore after being snagged. I prefer to let it settle.
- Your neck is sunburnt or freshly tanned from the beach.
- You fly home the next day in a high-collared outfit and cannot avoid friction on the sites.

I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.

Frequently asked questions
What is a skin tag on the neck?
A skin tag is a small, soft, skin-coloured or slightly brown growth that often hangs from a thin stalk. The neck is a common place for them because of friction from collars, necklaces and skin folds. A doctor should confirm what it is before removal.
Can I remove a skin tag on my neck at home?
I do not recommend it. Tying, cutting or freezing kits can cause bleeding, infection or an uneven mark, and they skip the step of confirming the bump really is a skin tag.
How much does skin tag removal cost at Delphic?
Skin tag removal is priced per spot on our menu, with the price varying by size for tags over 2mm. Korean and international patients pay the same price, and the exact quote is confirmed after examination.
How long does a neck skin tag take to heal?
Small sites usually settle over about 3 to 7 days, sometimes with a light crust. A pink mark can stay a little longer and fades gradually with sun protection.
Will skin tags come back after removal?
The removed tag does not usually return, but new ones can form nearby over time, especially where friction continues. Removal treats the tags you have now.
