Plenty of people come to Seoul having wanted to try laser for years, and the first one feels like a big step. I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director of Delphic Clinic close to Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam; I trained at Korea University Medical Center and I treat our international patients myself. The question I get from first-timers is almost always the same: “What will one session actually do?” Urooj's post gives me a good way to answer it — what a first pico session tends to change, what needs a series, what it costs, and when I'd ask you to wait.

In her own words
I’ve been wanting to work on my overall skin tone and pigmentation, so I decided to try Laser treatment in Seoul. The treatment was quick and comfortable, and I was honestly surprised by how easy the whole experience was. 🤍
Why pico toning is a gentle first laser
Urooj described the treatment as quick and comfortable, and that matches what most first-timers tell me about toning. A pico laser fires extremely short pulses — the energy acts on melanin and moves on before much heat spreads to the tissue around it.
That's why I often suggest it as a first step for someone who wants to work on tone and pigmentation without taking days off. If you'd like the longer version, I've written about how I fade pigment and even skin tone with PicoSure toning.
What one session tends to change
Right after a toning session, many patients notice their skin looks fresher and a little brighter. Urooj described exactly that. Part of it is the treatment and the mask; part of it is a well-hydrated face after clinic care.
Pigment, though, fades gradually. Spots that have been there for years usually need repeated sessions, and toning is normally done as a series at 1–2 week intervals. One visit is a good way to find out how your skin responds.
Fitting a series into a trip — or not
- 1
Short trip (under a week)
One session, ideally early in the trip. Treat it as a trial and a fresh start, and keep expectations for pigment modest.
- 2
Two weeks or more
Two sessions can fit at the usual 1–2 week interval. Book the first one soon after you land.
- 3
Living in or returning to Seoul
This is where a full series makes sense, and where the 5-session package is good value.
Aftercare while you're out sightseeing
- Sunscreen before you leave the clinic, and reapply through the day.
- Plenty of moisturiser or a recovery cream — laser heat can leave skin dry.
- No retinol, whitening cosmetics or peels until the skin settles.
- Mild redness or fine flaking for a few days is normal; tell us if anything feels unusual.
If you're comparing options, I've also explained when PicoSure or Fraxel suits which problem — they're often confused, but they do different jobs.
The cost of a first pico session
Prices are public and identical for Korean and international patients. Urooj didn't share a price, so here is the menu price for the typical first-visit option:
VAT excluded · identical for Korean and international patients · regular price ₩50,000 per session; 5 sessions ₩250,000. Your exact plan is confirmed at the free consultation.
After the first visit, sessions are ₩50,000 each or ₩250,000 for five. There's a fuller breakdown of what you'll really pay for PicoSure toning on the blog.

Is this for you?
Who this combination genuinely suits
Signs it may be time
- Your skin looks dull or patchy in daylight
- Pigment has built up slowly over the years
- You're curious about laser but nervous about downtime
- You'll be in Seoul long enough for two sessions
A good fit if
- You want to even out overall tone and lighten pigmentation
- You've never had a laser and want a gentle first one
- You need to carry on sightseeing the same day
- You'll keep up with sunscreen afterwards
Not the right first step if: you have a fresh tan or sunburn, you're pregnant, your skin is inflamed or broken, or you need a deep pigment cleared in a single visit.

“Send me a daylight photo before your trip and tell me how long you're staying. I'll suggest how many sessions are realistic, even if the answer is just one.”
Questions patients ask me about this
Is pico laser good for a first laser treatment?
Pico toning is a common first laser because the pulses are very short and the downtime is minimal. Many first-timers describe it as quick and comfortable. The doctor checks your skin first to confirm it suits you.
How much is pico laser in Korea?
At Delphic Clinic, PicoSure toning + mask is ₩40,000 at the first-visit price and ₩50,000 regularly, VAT excluded. Five sessions are ₩250,000, and international patients pay the same as Korean patients.
Will one pico laser session remove pigmentation?
One session can leave skin looking fresher, but pigment usually fades gradually over a series. Toning is typically repeated every 1–2 weeks.
Can I go sightseeing after pico laser?
Yes, you can return to normal plans the same day. Wear sunscreen, reapply often and moisturise well.
How many pico laser sessions can I do on a two-week trip?
Usually up to two, spaced 1–2 weeks apart. Book the first soon after you arrive.
