I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, director and lead physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam. My background is Korea University Medical Center, and I am a member of the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Surgery & Laser Medicine and the Korean Society for Laser Dermatology & Hair. I work mainly in lifting, laser and anti-ageing care, and I see many visitors who want their skin looking its freshest on one particular day.
A Korean glass skin facial is usually requested with a date attached: a wedding, a photoshoot, a reunion, or simply the flight home. I hear some version of "when should I come in?" several times a week. This post answers that timing question in detail, along with which peel to choose that week and how to protect the glow until it matters.
A glass skin facial is one visit, not a programme
If you want the full picture of how glass skin is built over several sessions, that is in my Korean glass skin treatment overview. The facial on its own is the short version of that plan, done once, for a moment you care about.
On the day it combines a gentle peel, LDM ultrasound for hydration and a mask. The skin looks plumper and reflects light more evenly for a few days. It does not fade pigment or tighten sagging, and I say so before we start.
Timing it before a wedding, photoshoot or flight home
The last row matters most. If your skin has never had a clinic peel, I would rather see you earlier in your trip so any surprise has time to settle. What is normal after this kind of facial, and what is not, is covered in my note on Korean HydraFacial side effects.
Choosing the peel for the day: Aqua Peel or LHALALA
Both are gentle. The choice depends on what your skin is doing that particular week, which is why I do not fix it in advance over email.
- Aqua Peel: for skin that feels congested, with blackheads, dull patches and a greyish tone.
- LHALALA Peel: for rough texture, uneven surface and skin that looks tired rather than clogged.
- Neither, this week: for skin that is already irritated or peeling. Then LDM and a calming mask alone make more sense.
If you are still weighing a clinic facial against a spa day, I compare the two rooms in my post on the Korean facial, clinic versus spa.
| Seasonal Glow [1] LHALALA Peel + LDM (Hydration) 6min + Modeling Mask | ₩129,000$90 |
| Seasonal Glow [2] MulTox + LDM (Hydration) 6min + Modeling Mask | ₩179,000$130 |

- 1
Two days before
Pause retinoids and strong exfoliating acids. Avoid new products you have never tried.
- 2
The morning of
Come with clean skin if you can. Tell us about any recent sunburn, peel or laser.
- 3
The evening after
Gentle cleanser, moisturiser, nothing else. Skip saunas, hot baths and hard workouts.
- 4
The next two days
Sunscreen every morning, plenty of moisturiser, and keep your hands off your face.

Skin I would not give a glass skin facial to this week
- An active rash, cold sore or infected spot on the face.
- Skin that is sunburnt or still peeling from another treatment.
- Someone who wants pigment or sagging fixed before the event. A facial will not do that, and a rushed laser the week before a wedding is not something I recommend.
The week before a big day is for calming skin, not for experimenting on it.— Dr. Hyunji Kim, Delphic Clinic
How long the glow lasts, and how to stretch it
Expect a few good days. Hydration is what fades first, so moisturiser and sunscreen do most of the work of keeping it. Alcohol, saunas and very little sleep shorten it noticeably.
If you find yourself wanting the glow back every month, that is a sign the one-visit facial is not the whole answer for your skin, and a short course or a different treatment may serve you better.

Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.

Frequently asked questions
How many days before an event should I get a Korean glass skin facial?
For most skin, two to three days before the event works well. It leaves time for any mild redness to settle while the extra hydration is still visible. If your skin is sensitive, allow a little more time.
How long does the glow from a glass skin facial last?
Usually a few days. Keeping skin moisturised, protected from the sun and away from saunas helps it last as long as possible.
Can I wear makeup after a Korean glass skin facial?
Many people can, but I usually suggest keeping the skin bare for the rest of the day so it can settle. We will tell you on the day based on how your skin reacted.
Aqua Peel or LHALALA Peel for a glass skin facial?
Aqua Peel suits congested, dull skin that needs pores cleared. LHALALA Peel suits rough texture and uneven surface. The doctor chooses after looking at your skin that day.
