The request for a Korean glutathione injection usually arrives with a hopeful question attached: will it make my skin lighter? I understand why people ask, because the treatment is marketed that way in many places. My answer is more careful, and this page explains how we give it, what I think it can do, and where I draw the line.
Why glutathione became a Korean clinic staple
Glutathione is an antioxidant your body already makes. In Korean clinics it became popular as a 'beauty drip', often described as brightening, and many visitors now treat it as part of a Seoul skin trip. The popularity is real. The evidence for dramatic skin lightening is much weaker than the marketing suggests.
That gap between reputation and evidence is exactly why I talk about it plainly. Patients who come in with realistic expectations tend to enjoy the experience. Patients who expect a new skin colour are usually disappointed.
Drip or shot: how glutathione is given at Delphic
For a drip, a doctor first checks your health history, then the line is placed and you rest while it runs. Most people read, nap or answer messages. Afterwards you can go straight back to your day.
The brightening question, answered honestly
Some patients tell me their skin looks fresher or more even after a course of drips. Others notice nothing they can point to. I cannot predict which group you will be in, and I do not promise a change in skin colour.

Who should skip the drip
- Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Anyone who has reacted badly to an injection or IV drip before.
- People with a significant chronic condition or regular medication we have not reviewed together.
- Anyone expecting the drip alone to fade dark spots or change their skin tone.
If any of these apply, tell me at consultation. Sometimes the answer is simply to wait; sometimes it is a different plan altogether.
Pairing a drip with pigment treatment
For uneven tone, the treatment that does the targeted work is a pigment laser such as PicoSure Toning, which aims at melanin while sparing the skin around it. A glutathione drip can sit alongside that plan as an optional extra, not in place of it.

What is a Korean glutathione injection?
It is glutathione, an antioxidant the body makes naturally, given directly rather than as a supplement. At Delphic it is given mainly as an IV drip, and a shorter intramuscular shot is also on the menu.
Does a glutathione injection whiten skin?
I do not offer it as a whitening treatment, and I do not promise a lighter skin tone. Some patients feel their skin looks brighter or fresher, but results vary and it does not replace sunscreen or pigment treatment.
How long does a glutathione IV drip take?
The timing depends on the drip chosen and is explained at consultation. You sit in a reclining chair, and you can return to your day afterwards.
Who should not get a glutathione injection?
I postpone or decline it for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have had a reaction to an injection or drip before, or have a significant chronic condition or regular medication we have not yet reviewed together.
Can I combine a glutathione drip with a laser treatment?
Yes, and for pigment that is usually the more meaningful plan. The laser, such as PicoSure Toning, does the targeted work. The drip is an optional addition, not the main treatment.
