Is your Seoul trip only five days, and is the question of lip filler how long does it take to settle the thing keeping you from booking?
Read this before you pick a treatment day.
You'll know what decides the cost, which review claims hold up, which methods change the swelling, and what each day looks like, so you can tell whether five days suits your lips and your budget.
Hello, I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, Director and Lead Physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam. My background is Korea University Medical Center, I'm a member of the Korean Filler Society, and this is a question I hear often.
At Delphic a doctor does the injecting, foreign visitors pay the same price as Korean patients, and English and Chinese interpreters are on site. Same-day treatment is possible, and we're open until 21:00 on weekdays, which helps when your days are counted.
I wrote this because people tend to judge their lips at peak swelling, then plan flights or more filler around that picture.
If your dates are already fixed, send a front-facing photo of your lips and your flight date on WhatsApp, and ask which treatment day you should aim for.

Why the swollen version misleads you
The needle causes a small injury, lip tissue has a dense blood supply, and hyaluronic acid filler holds water. So what you see on the first days is filler plus fluid. The fluid leaves and the filler stays.
That means lip filler how long does it take to settle is really two questions: when the swelling leaves, and when the shape stops changing. The first fits inside your trip. The second usually doesn't.
If you sat down in front of me, my first question would be your flight date, and my second would be whether you've had filler before. Both change how much I'd want to place in a single short visit.
What should you expect each day until week two?
The first two days look the most dramatic, and most of the change after that is slow. These timings are typical, and your own lips can run a little faster or slower.
The Cleveland Clinic's lip filler guidance says pain should fade after 12 to 24 hours and that swelling can take up to a week. It also advises no exercise or alcohol for at least 24 hours, plus no straws, puckering or kissing during recovery. It sets a follow-up about two weeks after treatment, which is why I treat week two as the point worth judging.
In Seoul terms, that means no soju with barbecue on your treatment night. Many doctors also suggest leaving saunas and very hot rooms for a few days, since heat can make swelling more noticeable.
How many days in Seoul do you need for lip filler?
Five days works for many first-timers when the injection falls early in the trip. What I'd avoid is treating the day before your flight, because the first days are when you'd want to be close to the person who injected you.
Now check that plan against our calendar. We close at 17:00 on Saturdays and all day Sunday, so say you land Thursday and fly Monday: a Friday injection leaves you Saturday daytime in reach of the clinic, then a closed Sunday. Say instead you land Tuesday and fly Saturday night. A Wednesday injection gives you three open clinic days after treatment.
If you only have three days, I'd think hard about whether this trip is the one for lips. You'd fly with the swelling at its most visible, and you'd have little time nearby if something felt wrong.

4.7 · 260 Google reviewsI received ONDA lifting and Juvelook Skin treatment at Delpic Clinic. Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.
To plan around this, add a side-view photo in daylight to your message, mention any earlier filler and when you had it, and ask whether a Wednesday or a Friday suits your dates.

Which methods change how fast lips settle?
Amount matters more than anything else you can control. A smaller volume generally means less stretching and less swelling to wait out, which is why I lean toward a modest first session when the flight is close. Going too far has its own pattern, and my piece on why faces end up overfilled walks through it.
Product matters too. Softer gels and firmer gels behave differently in moving tissue, and they fade at different rates, as I explain in how long Juvederm lasts by area. Our menu lists Rejuviel and Juvederm by the cc, and I match the product to the lips in front of me, in the same way I'd weigh filler against a booster under the eyes.
Technique plays a smaller part. Needle or blunt cannula, number of entry points and the pace of injection can all affect bruising, though the choice is usually made around your anatomy. A plan split across two sessions can suit some people, but the second session needs to fall after the swelling has gone, so it rarely fits one five-day trip.
What do reviews get right about lip filler settling?
The common claim that lips look far too big on day 2 and calmer by week two is medically sound. Swelling explains most of it.
The claim that big day-2 lips mean too much filler was used is unreliable. Nobody can read volume through that much fluid, so more or less filler is a week-two conversation. The advice to massage lumps yourself is also shaky: press only if your injector told you to, and ask how.
As for flying making filler migrate, I don't know of good evidence for that. Migration is a listed risk of lip filler, and it's more often discussed in relation to volume and placement than air travel.
One look-alike is worth knowing. A tiny white dot at the lip border, as opposed to a lump you feel inside the lip, is more likely a skin issue, and this guide to telling milia from closed comedones can help you sort it out.
What decides the cost of lip filler in Seoul?
Five things move the figure for your case:
- Product: which filler suits your lips and the look you want.
- Amount: how many cc you actually need, which is often less on a short trip.
- Your history: old filler still in place can change the plan.
- Sessions: one visit, or a return visit for more.
- Days in Korea: an extra night or two adds to your own travel budget.
Prices on our menu exclude VAT, so ask whether the figure you're given includes it. To get a number, ask on WhatsApp what your case would cost, with a lip photo and the amount you had in mind. The Delphic Clinic English home page also shows the other ways to reach us.
When I'd tell you to skip lip filler on this trip
You don't need this trip for lip filler if any of these apply:
- You have a wedding, shoot or other big event within two weeks. The Cleveland Clinic suggests scheduling at least two weeks ahead.
- You have an active cold sore or an infection or inflammation around the mouth.
- You're pregnant or breastfeeding, or under 22. The US FDA says safety is unknown in these groups.
- You have a bleeding disorder, severe allergies or a history of anaphylaxis, or you're allergic to lidocaine.
- You're hoping filler will correct something that a lip injection can't change, such as the way your teeth and jaw sit.
What if something feels wrong after you're home?
Risks and side effects to know
Bruising, redness, puffiness, soreness and itching are common, and the FDA's dermal filler page says many side effects resolve in a few days to weeks, though some can appear weeks or months later. Lip-specific risks include cold sore reactivation, infection, asymmetry, tissue injury if filler enters or sits around an artery, and migration. How your lips recover varies from person to person, and the exam in person decides suitability.
Get emergency care right away for unusual pain, vision changes, or skin near the injection site that turns white, gray or blue. The same applies to sudden trouble speaking, a drooping face, or weakness on one side. Don't wait for a clinic in another time zone to reply; go to the nearest emergency department and say you've had lip filler.
For milder worries, such as a persistent firm spot at week three, see a doctor at home and bring your treatment details. The CDC's medical tourism advice includes arranging follow-up care with your local provider before you leave, so ask at booking for the product name and amount in writing, and ask your home doctor ahead of time whether they'd see you.
The closing step is small. When you come, it's a short walk from Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station, and the doctor examines your lips and recommends the amount and product that fit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fly the day after lip filler?
I don't know of a firm medical rule against it, but I wouldn't plan it. The first days are when you'd want to be near the person who injected you, and your lips will still look swollen in the seat.
When can I wear lipstick and drink through a straw again?
The Cleveland Clinic advises keeping lip products off for at least 24 hours and avoiding straws and puckering during recovery. Check with your injector when you can go back to straws, since the timing can differ with how your lips are healing.
Is a small lump normal two weeks after lip filler?
A small firm spot you can feel but not see can take a while longer to soften. A lump that's painful, hot, growing or discolored needs a doctor to look at it soon.
How long does lip filler last once it has settled?
Product, amount and your own metabolism all move that, so treat it as a rough range and not a promise.
Can filler be dissolved if I don't like it at week two?
Hyaluronic acid filler can generally be dissolved with an enzyme, but the swelling needs to clear first so you know what you're correcting. An allergy to the enzyme is possible, so tell the doctor about any allergies.
