Lip filler how long to see results, when your flight home leaves before the swelling has gone? Read this before you fix your dates. You'll know what each day shows, which methods change the timeline, what reviews get right and what decides the cost, so you can choose a trip length that fits your lips and your budget.
Hello, I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, Director and Lead Physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam. My background is Korea University Medical Center, and I'm a member of the Korean Filler Society.
At Delphic, a doctor performs the treatment and same-day treatment is possible, which helps when a trip is short. English and Chinese interpreters are on site, and international patients pay the same price as Korean patients.
I wrote this because people often judge their lips on day 2, when they can tell the least, and some go home convinced something went wrong.
You see a change as soon as the injections finish, but that first look includes swelling. Most swelling eases within a few days to a week, and two weeks is the usual point to judge the settled shape.
If your dates are tight, send a front photo of your lips in daylight and your arrival and departure dates on WhatsApp, and ask which day of the trip you should choose.

What you can judge on day 1, day 7 and day 14
The Cleveland Clinic's lip filler guide says swelling usually goes down after 24 to 48 hours but may take up to a week. It places the conversation about final results at a follow-up around two weeks. I find it more useful to split those days by the question each one can answer.
After that, the filler slowly fades. The same Cleveland Clinic page puts typical duration at 12 to 18 months, with metabolism playing a part.
Why your lips can look wrong before they look right
Each needle pass causes a small injury, and the lips have a rich blood supply and soft tissue that swells readily. Hyaluronic acid also holds water. Your day 2 mirror is therefore showing filler, fluid and irritation all at once, and the mix isn't even from one side to the other.
This matters most if you've been through it before. Say your last filler looked oversized on day 2 and you had it dissolved within the week. You never saw what that amount would have looked like once settled, so that experience tells you little about how much filler your lips can carry.
Lip filler how long to see results on a 4-, 7- or 14-day trip
On a four-day trip, you'll leave with swelling still in play and make your judgment at home. On seven or eight days, you'll probably see most of the swelling go down in Seoul, but you still won't reach the two-week mark. With 14 days or more after the injection, you can assess the settled result before you fly.
Say you land on a Thursday night and fly home the following Friday. Treating on Friday evening would give you about a week of watching the swelling drop, and you'd judge the final shape back home. We're open Monday to Friday from 10:30 to 21:00 and Saturday from 10:30 to 17:00, and we're closed on Sundays. Directions from Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station are on Delphic Clinic's English homepage.
A wedding or a photo shoot changes the plan. The Cleveland Clinic's advice is to schedule at least two weeks ahead of a big event, so count backward from that date before booking flights. Then, as the CDC's medical tourism guidance suggests, plan for follow-up care at home. Keep a record of the product, the amount and the treatment date, because a doctor at home will ask for them.
A photo check you can do from your hotel and from home
In short, this takes two minutes and will stop you comparing a swollen lip with a memory.
- Take a photo on the morning of treatment, then repeat it on days 1, 3, 7 and 14.
- Use the same window light, no lip product, and relaxed lips, from the front and both sides.
- Write one line each day about pain, firmness and any color change.
- Make your decision about size or symmetry from the day 14 photo, set beside the one from the morning of treatment.

4.7 · 260 Google reviewsI received ONDA lifting and Juvelook Skin treatment at Delpic Clinic. Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.
If you've had filler before, add a side photo in the same light on WhatsApp, along with the product and date of your last treatment and whether it was dissolved. Then ask what that history means for the amount you're hoping for.

What do reviews get right about the timeline?
Reviews often say the filler "disappeared" within a week. Usually that's swelling leaving, and the filler is still there. That is the most common misreading I'd correct, and it's a good reason to keep your own photos.
They also often say a lump on day 3 means the job was botched. It's too early to know that, since swelling and fresh filler can both feel firm. A lump that stays past two weeks, or one that hurts more each day, does deserve a doctor's attention.
The claim that lip filler lasts for years is harder to support. Typical duration is well under that, and it varies by person.
Which methods change how fast you see results?
The filler you're likely to discuss for lips is hyaluronic acid, and products differ in how firm they are. As the American Academy of Dermatology notes, many fillers give immediate results, and some need a few visits. On our menu, Rejuviel is a filler with lips among its listed areas.
Three choices tend to affect your timeline. A larger amount usually means more visible swelling. A needle or a blunt cannula can change how much bruising you get, though neither prevents it. Building volume over two visits gives a slower result, but it needs two trips or a longer stay.
The shape plan matters as much as the method, and I've written separately about how I plan a soft lip shape. Filler timing also isn't the same everywhere on the face, as you'll see in when I choose filler or a booster under the eyes. And if your real concern is sagging around the mouth, added lip volume won't lift it. How I use Ultherapy for sagging skin is the better place to start.
What decides the cost for your lips
Four things move the figure: the product, the amount, whether earlier filler affects the plan, and whether you need one visit or two. Your days in Seoul affect the cost of the trip as a whole, since waiting for day 14 means a longer stay. For more detail, read what the price of lip filler in Seoul covers.
Ask on WhatsApp what it would cost for your case, and include a photo of your lips with the look you want described in a sentence.
What can go wrong, and who should leave filler off this trip
Risks and side effects to know
Swelling, tenderness and bruising are common and usually temporary. Pain usually settles within 12 to 24 hours, according to the Cleveland Clinic, and bruises can take longer to fade, often about a week or more. The same guide lists less common problems, including cold sore reactivation, infection, asymmetry, migration of filler toward the nose and tissue damage if filler enters or presses on an artery. How quickly you recover varies from person to person.
You should generally hold off if you have an active cold sore, canker sore or mouth infection, or if you're pregnant. The Cleveland Clinic also notes that the FDA hasn't approved lip fillers for anyone under 21. I'd also tell you to skip this trip if an important event falls inside the next two weeks. Tell your doctor about blood thinners, supplements and any cold sore history, and don't stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
If you're home and notice increasing pain, a white or dusky patch, or blistering, get seen by a doctor the same day. Any change in vision is an emergency. Fever, spreading redness or pus also need prompt care. Show the doctor your treatment record and your photos.
If your lips are thin and the skin is dry and lined, filler may also be the wrong first step, and a skin booster could be a better conversation to have. And if you're happy with your lips and just feel you ought to do something while you're in Seoul, keep them as they are.
One photo is enough to start
A single front photo on WhatsApp is enough, plus the one question still on your mind. When you come in, the doctor examines your lips and recommends the product and amount that fit them.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fly the day after lip filler?
Many people have no travel restriction from filler itself, but your lips will still be swollen and tender. Ask your treating doctor about your own flight, and leave time to have any warning sign seen before you travel.
Why does one side of my lip look bigger on day 2?
Swelling is often uneven in the first days, so one side can look larger even when the filler was placed evenly. Judge symmetry around day 14, and get seen sooner if pain is increasing or the skin changes color.
When can I wear lipstick and kiss again?
The Cleveland Clinic advises avoiding lip products, kissing, puckering and straws for at least 24 hours. It gives the same 24-hour guidance for exercise, smoking and alcohol.
How long will my lip filler last?
The Cleveland Clinic says lip fillers typically last 12 to 18 months, depending on metabolism. Your own timeline can be shorter or longer, so treat that as a general guide.
Should I add more filler if I'm disappointed on day 5?
I wouldn't decide on day 5, because some swelling may remain and it can hide the true size. Compare your day 14 photo with the one from the morning of treatment, then decide.
