Is "lip filler how long to heal" the question holding you back, because your lips have been treated before, someone at home called them tricky, and you only have about a week in Seoul?
Read this before you lock in your flights.
You'll come away knowing what healing usually looks like day by day, what decides the cost, what reviews get right and wrong, and which methods change bruising and swelling, so you can pick a trip length and a plan that fit your lips and your budget.
Hello, I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, Director · Lead Physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam. My career includes Korea University Medical Center, and I'm a member of the Korean Filler Society and the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Surgery & Laser Medicine.
At Delphic, a doctor performs the injections, treatment is possible on the same day as your consultation, and foreigners pay the same price as Korean patients. English interpreters are on site, and we're at Sinnonhyeon Station, Exit 3.
I hear this question a lot from visitors, and the plan that goes wrong is usually built around the day the swelling goes down, when the date that matters more is the day the filler settles.
For most people, lip swelling peaks in the first one to two days, most of it fades within about a week, and the filler settles into its final shape at around two weeks. Bruising, if you get it, can take one to two weeks to clear.
If you've had lip filler before, send a front-on photo of your lips in daylight on WhatsApp with your travel dates, and ask the one question on your mind: is this enough days for my lips?

How does lip filler heal, day by day?
Lips swell more than cheeks or chin for a plain reason. They're soft, mobile tissue with a rich blood supply, and hyaluronic acid filler draws in water during the first days. That's why lips often look their biggest on the morning after treatment, not the evening of it.
Treat the table as a planning guide. Lips that have had filler before, lips that received a larger amount, and people who bruise easily tend to sit at the slower end of each row.
How many days should you plan in Seoul?
The trip length depends on one question more than any other: do you want a doctor to see your lips again, in person, after they've settled?
For first-time filler on untreated lips, I'd treat early in the trip, in the first two or three days, so the peak swelling passes while you're still in Seoul. About a week usually covers the swelling; about two weeks also covers the settled result. We're closed on Sundays, so if you land on a Saturday night your first possible day is Monday. Weekday and Saturday hours are on our English homepage.
Say your situation is harder. You had lip filler at home about a year ago, the upper lip now looks puffy just above the border, your injector at home would rather not add more, and you have eight days in Seoul. The first thing I'd want to know is whether old filler has moved outside the lip line. If it has, adding more on top rarely fixes the shape.
Dissolving hyaluronic acid filler first is often the better step, and many doctors wait around two weeks after dissolving before refilling so the tissue can recover. Most people hope to hear something else, but lips with a migrated border usually look better after the slower plan.

4.7 · 260 Google reviewsI received ONDA lifting and Juvelook Skin treatment at Delpic Clinic. Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. During the treatment, I could really tell that Dr. K was highly skilled, so I felt confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.
If this sounds like your lips, add a side-profile photo taken in daylight to your WhatsApp message, plus roughly when and how much filler you had before, and ask whether your days fit one visit or call for two.

Which methods change bruising and swelling?
Injectors use either a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula. A cannula often means fewer entry points and, for many people, less bruising; a needle gives finer control at the lip border. Many treatments use both, so ask which one will be used where.
The amount matters more than the tool. A smaller amount in one session swells less and is easier to read at day 14, and a bigger change can be built over two sessions. Product firmness plays a part too: softer hyaluronic acid gels are commonly used in the body of the lip, firmer ones for definition at the border. I wrote separately about how I plan a soft lip shape.
If you're also thinking about your under-eyes on the same trip, that's a different decision with a different healing pattern. I covered when I choose filler or a booster under the eyes.
What do reviews get right and wrong about lip filler healing?
Forum threads and reviews repeat a handful of claims. Some hold up.
"The swelling is gone by the next morning." A few people do look close to normal on day 1, but for many the next morning is the peak. Plan for the slower version.
"Lumps in the first days mean it went wrong." Usually they don't. Early swelling and filler that hasn't settled can feel lumpy through the first week. A lump that is painful, hot, growing, or still clearly there after two weeks is different, and a doctor should look at it.
"A cannula means no bruising." Many people bruise less with one, but some still bruise. And "you can't fly for a week" isn't a general rule. Many doctors are comfortable with flying in the days after lip filler; the trade-offs are being swollen in transit and being far from the person who treated you if something rare happens.
What decides the cost of lip filler for your case?
Four things move the cost most: how much filler your lips need and whether it goes in over one session or two, which product is used, whether old filler has to be dealt with first, and whether the plan covers only the lips or also the corners of the mouth. I've written about what a lip filler price in Seoul actually covers. For the figure for your own lips, ask on WhatsApp what it would cost for your case.
Risks, and when I'd tell you not to book this trip
Risks and side effects to know
The common reactions are temporary: swelling, bruising, tenderness, redness and small bumps, mostly fading over the first one to two weeks. The US Food and Drug Administration lists bruising, redness, swelling, pain and tenderness among common filler side effects, and warns that filler accidentally injected into a blood vessel can block blood flow. Infection and delayed lumps are rarer.
Lip filler can also trigger a cold sore in people who get them, so mention it if you do. As general medicine, you'd usually be advised to wait or skip lip filler with an active cold sore or infection near the lips, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an allergy to hyaluronic acid filler or lidocaine, with lip filler from the last two weeks that hasn't settled, or with an important event three or four days away. If you take blood-thinning medicine, don't stop it on your own; ask your own doctor and mention it at consultation.
Some lips don't need filler at all. If yours have the volume you like and what bothers you is dryness or fine lines around the mouth, a skin booster such as SkinVive may be the better conversation. Whether lip filler suits you is decided at the in-person examination.
If, after you're home, your lip or the skin near it turns white, grey or blotchy, or the pain gets worse instead of better, treat it as urgent and go to an emergency department, because a blocked vessel is time-sensitive. For swelling or a lump that worries you without those signs, see a doctor at home who treats filler, and bring the record of what was injected.
Before you fly home
The US CDC's medical tourism guidance recommends keeping copies of your medical records and planning follow-up care before you travel. For lip filler, that means asking for the product name and the amount used in each lip before you leave, and finding out who near home treats filler in case you need someone after day 14.
Take a front-on photo in the same light on days 0, 3, 7 and 14. Comparing your own photos shows you whether your lips are on the usual path, which is easier than judging from the mirror.
Message us on WhatsApp with the one question you'd ask first in the room, even before you've booked anything. When you come in at Sinnonhyeon Station, Exit 3, I'll examine your lips and recommend the plan that fits them and your days in Seoul.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fly the day after lip filler?
For most people flying soon after lip filler isn't considered a problem, but expect your lips to be at or near their most swollen on days 1 and 2. Skip alcohol on the flight and carry the record of the product and amount used.
When can I wear lipstick or kiss after lip filler?
Many doctors suggest avoiding lipstick and pressure on the lips for about the first day, while the injection points close. After that, light makeup is usually fine; firm pressure is best kept light until the swelling has eased.
When can I exercise or use a sauna after lip filler?
Hard workouts are usually best left for 24 to 48 hours, and heat such as saunas or a jjimjilbang for a few days, because both can increase swelling and bruising.
How long does lip filler last once it has healed?
The lips move constantly, so filler there tends to break down sooner than in quieter areas, and the timing varies with the product and your own metabolism.
Can I have lip filler on the same day as my consultation in Seoul?
Same-day treatment is possible at Delphic if the examination shows your lips suit it. Lips with old filler that has moved are the main case where waiting, or dissolving first, makes more sense.
