Reading Korea Thermage FLX reviews and complaints and wondering if the bad ones could happen to your face? Read this before you book the flight to Seoul. You'll know which complaints point to a real problem, what the method does, what recovery usually looks like and what decides the cost, so you can choose what fits your skin and your budget.
Hello, I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, Director and Lead Physician at Delphic Clinic in Gangnam. My background is Korea University Medical Center, and I'm a member of the Korean Society for Laser Dermatology & Hair.
At Delphic, a doctor performs the treatment, and the Thermage FLX device and tips are genuine. Korean and international patients pay the same price, and interpreters are on site for English and Chinese.
I wrote this because review threads file a sore jaw and a skin injury under the same word, "complaint", and people end up deciding on the wrong one.
Most complaints about Thermage FLX describe pain during the session or a result judged too early, and you can check both before you pay. True adverse events are uncommon and mostly temporary, though they still deserve a direct question.
If one review is stuck in your head, send a screenshot of it on WhatsApp with a photo of the area you'd want treated, and ask whether that complaint applies to skin like yours.

Which Thermage FLX complaints point to a real problem?
I sort them into three piles. Discomfort during the session is common and expected. "Nothing changed" is usually a question of timing or of choosing the treatment for the wrong problem. A mark, a dent or a lump that outlasts the first days is the only pile that should make you slow down and ask more.
The largest numbers I can point to are older. A retrospective review of over 600 monopolar radiofrequency facial treatments, published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, found that redness and swelling lasting under 24 hours were the usual effects. Temporary side effects occurred in 2.7% of treatments, including papules, a superficial crust, small nodules and one slight cheek depression.
Those treatments ran from 2002 to 2006 with earlier tips, so read them as background for the method and not as a forecast for FLX. A more recent review in Lasers in Surgery and Medicine reports few adverse events across key studies. It also notes that the studies are small and mostly manufacturer-funded, which is worth knowing when anyone quotes you a tidy success story.
Why "it did nothing" shows up so often
Timing explains a large share of it. That same review describes tightening that happens straight after treatment, followed by a healing process that continues for two to six months. A review posted at week three is judging a result that is still forming.
The other share is the wrong job for the device. RF can firm skin that has lost some tightness. It doesn't move heavy tissue, so someone hoping to lift a deep jowl will report no change, and they'll be describing their result accurately.
When you go back to Korea Thermage FLX reviews and complaints after reading this, check two details in each one: how many weeks had passed, and what the writer hoped to fix. Many threads lose their force once you know both. I go further into reading the shot counts in how I read Thermage reviews as a doctor.
Can Thermage FLX make a face look hollow?
In short, this is the complaint that frightens people, and it deserves a careful answer. In the 600-treatment review above, it appeared once, as a slight cheek depression that resolved. That is reassuring without being proof, because the data on modern RF and facial fat is limited, and I can't rule out that a very lean face behaves differently.
There's also a confounder. Faces lose volume with age and weight change, and a person who looks closely in the months after a treatment may credit the device for changes already underway.
Say you're 52, with a softening jawline, hollowing at the temples and a lean build. I would look at the skin and the volume as two separate questions. Thermage FLX addresses only the first, and it could make the volume loss more noticeable by comparison if nothing is done about it. In that face I might talk about filler or a booster first, each with its own risks: filler can cause bruising and, rarely, vascular problems, and salmon-derived boosters aren't for anyone allergic to the ingredient. If you're weighing a booster, see the complaints behind Rejuran reviews.
Does it hurt as much as the reviews say?
Often it does sting, in brief hot pulses, more over bone than over the cheek. Tolerance differs a lot between people.
The older review linked multiple passes at lower energy with better outcomes and greater patient acceptance. So ask how energy is adjusted if an area is too sore, and what is offered for comfort.
Thermage FLX methods: what the RF does in your skin
Monopolar RF heats the deeper skin through an intact surface. Heat changes the existing collagen, which explains the early tightening, and the controlled thermal injury then prompts a healing response that builds new collagen. No incision is involved.
The method choices that matter to you are the area and the shot count. My menu lists 600 shots for the face and 225 or 450 shots for the eyes. It also includes one-day packages that pair Thermage FLX with other treatments, such as Ultherapy Prime 600 shots with LDM and a modeling pack. If you want to see how the treatment is used here more broadly, how Korean patients use Thermage FLX and my first-timer's guide to Thermage go through it.
Recovery, and when you can judge the result
The clinic lists recovery as same-day return. Redness and swelling usually settle within a day or so, though the older review recorded swelling up to a week in six people and neck tenderness for two to three weeks in three.
For your trip, this means you'll fly home long before you can judge the outcome. The CDC's advice to delay flying 10 to 14 days concerns major surgery, and Thermage FLX isn't surgery, but do ask how soon you can fly and leave room for a spare day if your schedule allows. Hours are Monday to Friday 10:30 to 21:00 and Saturday 10:30 to 17:00, closed Sundays, and same-day treatment is possible.
Risks and side effects to know
Common temporary effects are redness, swelling, tenderness and small bumps, usually gone within days to a few weeks. Less often, people report a crust, nodules or a slight depression. Results and reactions differ from person to person.
Thermage FLX generally isn't a good fit, or should wait, if any of these apply:
- You have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device.
- You're pregnant or breastfeeding.
- There's an infection or inflamed skin in the area.
- You've recently had a laser or peel there, or taken isotretinoin.
- Your main concern is heavy sagging or volume loss, which it won't correct.
If something appears after you fly home, photograph it in daylight and contact the clinic, and see a local doctor promptly for pain that worsens, blistering or signs of infection. The CDC's medical tourism guidance also advises getting copies of your records before you leave and making sure follow-up care is available at home.
Questions to ask at the consultation, and what the answers mean
Put simply, this is the list I would use myself. Take it to any consultation, and match each question to the complaint that worries you.
One answer outweighs the others: "this isn't the right treatment for you." Hearing that from a doctor tells you the plan started with your skin.

Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. It’s definitely a clinic I would love to visit again.
I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.

What decides the cost of Thermage FLX in Korea?
The figure for your case comes down to a few things:
- Area: full face, eyes, or both.
- Shot count: the 600-shot face option and the 225- or 450-shot eye options are priced separately.
- Combination: Thermage FLX alone or within a one-day package.
- Tax: menu prices exclude VAT, so ask for the total.
- Your stay: nights in Seoul and any return visit are part of your own budget.
International patients pay the same price as Korean patients, with no foreigner surcharge. Contact options are on Delphic Clinic's English page; to get a number, ask on WhatsApp what it would cost for your case, naming the area you have in mind.
Your first message can be very short
The clinic is directly connected to Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station, with English and Chinese interpreters on site. When you come, a doctor examines your skin and recommends the treatment that fits it, which may or may not be Thermage FLX.
Frequently asked questions
Are complaints about fake Thermage tips something to take seriously?
It's reasonable to check. Ask how many shots you'll receive and whether you can see the tip before treatment starts. At Delphic, the device and tips are genuine.
Do foreigners pay more for Thermage FLX in Korea?
Some reviewers worry about this. At Delphic, Korean and international patients pay the same price, with no foreigner surcharge. Ask for the total with VAT, since menu prices exclude it.
Can I have Thermage FLX on the same day as my consultation?
Same-day treatment is possible at the clinic. Weekday hours run until 21:00, which can help if you land earlier that day, but confirm your slot before you travel.
Can I combine Thermage FLX with other treatments in one day?
Yes, the menu includes one-day packages, including one that pairs Ultherapy Prime 600 shots with Thermage FLX 600 shots, LDM and a modeling pack. More treatment isn't automatically right for your skin, so ask what each part would add.
What should I take home after treatment in Korea?
The CDC advises getting copies of your medical records from the facility before you return home. Ask for the treatment area and shot count to be recorded, so a doctor at home can see what was done.
