If you're fitting this into a trip, the worry is usually practical: will your face still be red when you board the flight home, and who do you ask once you're back? At Delphic Clinic in Gangnam, the One-Day Acne Package puts extraction, an inflammation injection, a black peel, GV Genesis laser and LDM in acne mode into a single visit, with procedures done by a doctor and same-day treatment possible.
Questions about Korean face care for acne come up often in my consultation room, usually from people who have already tried a shelf of serums and want to know what a clinic adds. Below are the six beliefs I hear most, each checked against what actually happens.
I'm Dr. Hyunji Kim, Director and Lead Physician at Delphic Clinic.
- For acne-prone skin, four steps (gentle cleanser, one acne active, moisturizer, sunscreen) usually do more than ten layers.
- Clinic extraction is for clogged whiteheads and blackheads. Deep, painful nodules need a different plan.
- One visit can calm a flare. Marks and scars run on a separate, slower timeline.
- At Delphic, the One-Day Acne Package runs from extraction to LDM in one visit, directly connected to Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 3, with English interpretation on site.
To see whether a one-day visit is worth a slot in your trip, send two things on WhatsApp: a clear daylight photo of your face without makeup, and your landing and departure dates.

Does a ten-step Korean routine clear acne faster?
Usually it doesn't. Acne starts in clogged pores, and every extra layer is another chance to irritate skin that is already inflamed. The American Academy of Dermatology advises washing gently up to twice a day and skipping astringents, toners and exfoliants, because they can dry and irritate acne-prone skin.
The kernel of truth is that Korean routines take moisturizer and sunscreen seriously, and both matter when you're using a drying acne active. Where routines go wrong is rotation. The AAD notes that a treatment can take several weeks to a few months to show a difference, and that switching too often can itself trigger breakouts.
For a trip, keep four steps: gentle cleanser, one acne active you already tolerate, a light moisturizer, sunscreen. Save new products for after you're home.
Extraction in a clinic targets different bumps than the ones you pick
Extraction clears the plug from whiteheads and blackheads, the closed and open clogged pores. Deep, red, painful bumps are a different problem, and pressing on them tends to push inflammation deeper. The AAD warns that picking or squeezing acne makes it take longer to clear and raises the risk of scarring and dark spots.
I also check where they cluster (forehead and nose versus jaw and chin) and whether flat brown or red marks are already left behind. That sort decides which steps make sense.
In the One-Day Acne Package, extraction comes first, followed by an inflammation injection for individual swollen bumps, a black peel, Ethosome Gold & Platinum PTT, GV Genesis laser, LDM in acne mode and a modeling pack. If most of your bumps are deep nodules, extraction is the smallest part of that list.

Can one visit in Seoul clear acne for good?
No. A visit can clear clogged pores and calm the flare you arrive with, but acne returns from the same sources: clogged pores, bacteria, inflammation and excess oil, the four things the AAD says effective treatment has to address. What keeps it down is what you do at home over the following months.
That's also why the clinic's multi-session plans exist. The All-in-One Acne-Scar 5-Session Program runs at 4-week intervals, which suits someone living in Seoul or coming back regularly. For a single trip, the realistic aim is a calmer face, a routine you can keep, and a clear picture of what kind of acne you have, so a doctor at home has something to work with.
Will I be too red to fly home the next day?
Usually not, if the visit sits early in the trip. After extraction and calming steps, expect some redness and small marks where pores were cleared, generally fading over the next day or two. The flight is rarely the problem; booking the visit on your last morning is.
Hours matter here. Delphic is open Mon–Fri 10:30–21:00 and Sat 10:30–17:00, and closed on Sundays. If you fly out on a Sunday, Saturday is your last option, which leaves little margin. A weekday evening near the start of the trip gives your skin the most room.
The U.S. CDC's guidance for medical travelers says to carry copies of your records and arrange follow-up care at home before you leave. For a skin visit, that means a short list of the steps you had and a photo from the day, so a dermatologist at home can pick up where Seoul left off.

Before the procedure, Dr. K carefully examined my skin condition and explained everything in a kind and easy-to-understand way, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured. I had a really great experience at Delphic Clinic. The staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. They explained everything clearly in English and didn’t try to oversell unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciated. The clinic is very clean and modern, and the whole process felt professional and well-organized. Overall, I would definitely recommend this clinic, especially if you’re a foreigner looking for a trustworthy place in Korea.

Filler and acne skin belong on separate days
Filler adds volume; it doesn't treat breakouts. Searches like "filler face" and "pillow face filler" often sit next to acne questions because people with hollows and marks wonder whether one treatment covers both. Injecting through active, inflamed skin raises infection concerns, so a breakout area is generally left alone until it calms down.
The U.S. FDA lists infection among the possible risks of dermal fillers. The overfilled "pillow face" look people search for comes from more volume than a face needs, which is a separate question from acne. If you want both, treat the acne first and judge volume later, on calm skin.
Do active acne and acne scars get the same treatment?
No. Active acne gets calmed first, and scars are treated once new breakouts slow down; otherwise the scar work keeps chasing fresh damage. The tools differ too: for textured scars and pores the clinic uses Potenza RF microneedling and Fraxel, where Pico-Fraxel is a non-ablative 755nm picosecond laser aimed at texture.
Flat red or brown marks left after a pimple heals are a third category, and they often fade on their own over months; pitted scars don't. I go through the scar types one by one in how I plan acne scar treatment scar by scar. If you're unsure whether a facial alone would help, what a clinic facial changes for each skin concern is the shorter read.
What are the risks of an acne visit, and when isn't a clinic visit in Korea worth your time?
Some people don't need to book at all, and some shouldn't book yet.
- You get a few pimples a month and they respond to over-the-counter care. Keep doing what works; a clinic day adds little.
- You have deep, painful nodules or cysts, or acne that's leaving scars. The AAD says this kind of acne needs a dermatologist's help, which usually means prescriptions and regular check-ins at home. A visit in Seoul can sit beside that plan, never replace it.
- You're pregnant or planning to be. Some peels and injections are avoided, so mention it in your first message.
- You're sunburned, or you fly out the same evening.
The common reactions after an acne visit are redness, swelling and tenderness where pores were cleared, and sometimes a few new spots in the following days as clogged pores surface. Less common are dark marks after inflammation or laser, which are more likely in deeper skin tones and in people who pick afterward. Infection is uncommon, and it's the reason to keep unwashed hands off treated skin. Which steps suit you, and which to skip, is decided at the in-person exam. For a sense of what's normal after facial-type treatments, see this guide to reactions after a Korean HydraFacial.
What should you check before messaging a clinic?
Five answers make a first message useful, and they take about two minutes:
- Are most bumps small and closed, red and tender, or deep and painful to touch?
- How long have you had this pattern, and what have you used on it, for how long?
- Any oral acne medication in the past year? Pregnant or planning to be?
- Do you also have flat marks or pitted scars, and which bothers you more?
- Your landing and departure dates, and which days are already booked.
Once you have the answers, send them on WhatsApp with three daylight photos: front, left and right, no makeup. On the day itself, the consultation is 1:1 with English interpretation on site, at a clinic directly connected to Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 3.
Frequently asked questions
Is a glass-skin style Korean routine bad for acne-prone skin?
It isn't bad by default, but long routines with many actives and exfoliating steps can irritate acne-prone skin. A gentle cleanser, one acne active, a light moisturizer and sunscreen cover what acne skin needs. Add other steps one at a time and give each several weeks before judging it.
How do I remove milia on my face, and is it acne?
Milia are tiny keratin-filled cysts rather than clogged pores, so acne products and squeezing usually don't clear them. Pressing on them at home risks marks.
Can I combine acne care with a lifting or skin booster treatment on the same trip?
Whether two treatments belong on the same day depends on how inflamed your skin is when you arrive. Send photos and your dates on WhatsApp so the order can be planned.
Should I stop my acne products before a clinic visit in Seoul?
Don't stop or start anything new just because of the trip. Bring a list or photo of every product and medication you use, including oral ones. The doctor tells you at the consultation whether any of them should be paused before extraction, peels or laser.
What happens at a clinic acne visit in Gangnam on the day?
You start with a 1:1 consultation, with English interpretation available on site, where the doctor looks at the type and spread of your breakouts. If treatment fits, it can be done the same day, and the procedures are performed by a doctor. The clinic is directly connected to Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 3.
